Gauges for 99 Pontiac Grand Am Not working right.

When I start my car all of the gauges staty put they don't move. The lights still work the radio works, but if I try to let down the window or turn on the heater/AC they don't work. As I drive the gauges will pop on & off then go back down. If they stay working & I turn on the heater/AC they go right back down & it cuts the heater off. It is all of the gauges the speedometer, temp, gas, miles, rph etc. Any thoughts?

I have the same problem with my 99 Grand Am. I've read that replacing the alternator could possibly solve the problem. I have just replaced mine with a rebuilt one, but the problem continues. I'm reluctant to take it to a dealer just yet. have you tried anything?

Jeep stalls gauges don't work windows and locks and radio don't work

when you state it wouldn't crank, do you mean the starter won't engage or that it just spins over and doesn't start? if no gauges or no starter engagement, then check the battery, battery connections, and the starter for excessive amperage draw. if the starter spins and the engine won't start, then check crankshaft position sensor first. the crank sensor is a more common failure than the distributor or any of the other things you mentioned.

HELP!! Having electrical issues with my 2005 Pontiac

electical is hard to diagnose with out being there. i would treat each problem seperately. first you will need to test the engine temp gauge sending unit. in a dealership this is easy with a scanner they can run a sweep test to se if the gauges are responding.you don't want the engine to over heat if the gauge is not working. next problem the dome light should be easy to fixe does the dome light work with the dome switch?remove the bulb and with the doors open and switch on check for voltage, if voltage check connection and or replace bulb. if no voltage check fuses for voltage.last will need to have the dtc po243 checked out by a repair shop. i hope this will help.

Gauges for 99 Pontiac Grand Am Not working right.

This is a ground problem. There are cluster grounds on the bolts that bolt the engine and trans together. You will have two of them one in the front under the front engine mounting bracket and one towards the back of the car almost right under the EGR. This is a common problem and requires a quite a bit of time to get to the two bolts to clean the connections on the grounding clusters. I ran into this problem after replacing my engine and it took me several hours before I finally found this problem. Good luck!
