Another piece to the puzzle is that it will not rev. over 2200 RPM by just pressing the throttle while parked.

I have the same year TDI. If I recall correctly, with this ALH diesel motors, they are the first VW TDI diesel to have some sort of electronic control with the fuel/throttle. Meaning, there is no line that goes from the gas pedal to the throttle.

I sincerely doubt it would have to do with the timing as that is a constant and not a variable. Lack of power from that wouldn't just be at start up.

I would look first at possible fuel delivery issues. If I come across anyone that may be able to give better advice, I will definitely pass it along.

Additional information to what I previously posted:

Okay, it might be a timing issue with the fuel pump. I was working to correct a timing issue I had with the camshaft and moved the fuel pump. After putting everything back together, the car refused to start. So, my dad and I tore it all down again, lined up the fuel pump where it was supposed to go (I guess I should have used my fuel pump locking pin I have the first time), the car fired right up with now hesitation.

Please note: this is strictly a guess of what the issue may be. There is an "allowable" amount of misalignment for the fuel pump, but, if it were lined up perfect, then there shouldn't be any fuel delivery issues from the fuel pump aside from the pump itself being bad. I hope this may help.

There are a few things that you may check but i will not guarantee that they will work. check the throttle cable for any slack or wearing. also try to check the idler.

2000 vw Jetta ac not cooling, ac compressor is on, freon level good, with ac manifold gauges high and low side fluctuates from 50-60 psi on low side.

try to throw cool water on the condencer front of the engine radiator and see whether any cool air comes in the car. If so see whether the pressure valve is working okey or not because might the pressure is not sufficient.

Engine Light began flashing and engine is very rough between 2500 - 3000 rpm.

this is caused by a engine ignition misfire most often, have the fault code tested to see which cylinder is having the problem, the most common cause is a defective plug wire or spark plug but there are many other reasons like a bad fuel injector, low engine cylinder compression and about 6 other poss causes

My 2002 jetta tdi works great on highway until i kick it down to speed up , then it seems to lack power and if i shut it off and restart the engine it works fine again till i get up in the high rpm, is...

Could be the filter or carbon build up, which is common on the mk4 1.9 tdi's. These engines need to be driven 'briskly' to stop low quality NA diesel fuel from cloggin up the engine.

Fuse #5 is for your ac.

On the Hi/Low pressure switch conection Terminal 1 and 2 are for AC clutch bridge them briefly to see if clutch engage if so system is low on refrigerent.

If you get cold air its more then likely Hi/Low switch is bad.

Note engine must be running and ac fan in on position.

Good luck
