I bought this car used with 33,000 miles from an older couple. Neither had driven it in over 3 years. Six months ago I had transmission difficulties. This week I replaced sway bars. The car now has 49,000 miles on it. Anything else I need to be aware of from NON-USE?

What colour oil is it, if it's white or red then it sounds like the tranny oil is leaking, but only if it is a automatic, if a manual then it has migration of oil into a water jacket and will need to be fixed, by replacing the head gasket
I HAVE A 2000 SABLE SUDDEN LOVE THE CAR. ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO STARTED MISSING A BIT. THEN LAST WEEK JUST DIED. I REPLACED THE HARD FUSES ON THE BATTERY BOX. RESET THE PUMP. IT ACTUALLY FIRED THEN DIED OFF AGAIN. WHAT MAKE IT DO THIS. IF THE FUEL PUMP IS UNDER THE BACK SEAT OR THE GAS TANK. OR COUD JUST BE MY PLUGS. E.T.C. HELP ME PLEASE A S A P .
This is a front wheel drive vehicle and has no power-train components in the rear of the car. The noise coming from the back is not related to your transmission. I would highly reccommend going to a ford dealership as these are typically trust-worthy and always use OEM parts. I also have an 03 sable with 101k miles it has always been reliable and has original transmission. It is possible something else is hard ****.
Please try this first, either go to a local wrecking yard or to car-parts.com and buy a cruise control module. Replace it and see if that solves your problem, I hope it will and thing it will. Good Luck and Merry Christmas, I am assuming you know how to check your fuses correctly.
Transmission problems are an issue with Sables. If you Google transmission and Mercury Sable you will come to quite a few complaints. There are actually a few posts on this website where folks are having issue too. Personally a cheap o-ring in my 1999 Sable went out resulting in a $1800 transmission repair bill. I literally gave the car away about three years ago. In almost 20 years of owning vehicles the two years I had the Sable was the most expensive and busiest in the way of repairs.
