Question about 1998 Chevrolet Blazer

1997 Chevy Blazer will not go in overdrive

When taking off my 1997 chevy blazer will not go in over drive. It acts like you are not giving it gas. I had the transmission rebuilt 2.5 years ago and the man charged me over $1000.00. I think I got ripped-off. My blazer only has 70,000 miles and I am the original owner. Could this be my transmission again or someone said my cat converter could be causing this problem.

If you open the hood on top of engine in front you will see what looks like a tempature sending unit it screws into the intake with a 2 wire plug on it, i cant remember what its called, but i know when truck gets to tempature it sends a signal down to trans. so it will shift into overdrive, when it goes bad it won't send the signal hense no overdrive. I have chg. a couple of them with a simmler problem you got and it fixed them. $10.00 at autozone.

My 1997 chevy blazer does not have a 4wheel drive switch

If there is no switch present then it is full time 4X4, it does not disengage, good for travel bad for fuel mileage.

My 2003 Chevy Malibu suddenly lost power climbing a hill. The engine light started flashing. I was able to drive it home at 30 mph.

Could either be the ignition system - ie, coil packs, fuel filter, fuel pump, or bad gas. Was it sputtering?
