Actually, your 2005 Caravan should come with either a 3.3 or 3.8 litre engine, these are chain drive engines, don't worry about it unless the guides wear and then you replace both the guides and chain.
Hope that clears things up.

The cam gears have marks that point TOWARD each other. The crankshaft gear has a mark on it that is inline with one of the gear splines. The gear spline will align with the mark on the oil pump housing.
(See picture below)

NOTE: If the belt has broken, the cams must be realigned with each other and with the crankshaft. The valves will hit each other if the cams are turned individually and will bend the valves. The correct way to do this is to remove the valve cover and remove all of the bolts from the cam bearing caps from one of the cams (it doesn't matter which one) and allow all the valves to close on that cam. Then turn the other cam into position. Once the first cam is in position, then rotate the loose cam to approximately the correct position then torque the bearing caps back down. See the illustration below for the proper torque sequence. Note that when loosening and when tightening the cam bearings, it should be done in several steps to keep from damaging the cylinder head or the camshaft.

Tighten M6 fasteners to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.) and tighten M8 fasteners to 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.)

This engine uses a timing chain not a belt. They will typically not require the same interval between changes but you should still have it checked to make sure it has not stretched.
