Question about 2007 Ford Focus (3 Door) Hatchback

1 Answer

Once the cars stalled it doesnt start without revs

I am a driving instructor and when a pupil stalls the car, it wont start again without it needing alot of revs, as you can imagine it is not ideal for teaching.

Thanks but i was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if they could tell me what might be causing this. The driving school refusing to admit that there is anything wrong.

have them take it out and drive it to see what it does and what it takes to get it to start again then maybe they can do something about it. but get one of them to take the car out and drive it for themselves and see what it does and that way they cant deny the problem

Chevroleete caviler - car wants to stall or does stall when idling after warmed up - not always. When in drive at idle speeds once in a while cars revs will jump up to 2.5 - then have to restart

Did you clean the idle air control motor, when you cleaned the throttle. Also check for vacuum leaks. The PCM controls the IAC motor. If it to dirty it can stick. Can cause a surge and stall.

97 Nissan 200sx 2.0l....car wont stay running when put in gear. When idling sometimes when engine is reved up it stalls, other times while idling I can rev it up and its smooth but once I put it in gear it...

You'll need to change the distributor, as the distributor shaft oil seal has gone bad. Without sufficient spark, you'll have no power. Don't forget a new cap/rotor.

Sounds like a high voltage ark through either through a crack in the distributor, or through a crack in the wires to it or near one of the spark plug boots. It probably will be visible as a blue spark at night. Otherwise you might just replace the cap and wires!

If it wont stall in neutral or park it may have a bad torque convertor clutch in the trans causing the engine to stall.

2001 dodge grand caravan stalls

Check the sensors on the throttle body. There is a sensor that controls air to fuel ratio. If that sensor is bad then the car will run and then stall out while in drive. I had the same problem when it was cold outside last winter. If you dont want to dish out the money without knowing if it is that part at fault or not then start the van pop the hood and located the throttle body. Place your hand on the sensors and give them a little shake and then make sure they are plugged in all the way. You could also turn the van off and unhook the sensor clean the connectors and plug it back in. That should do the trick and if it doesnt stall anymore then I would replace those sensors if I was you. One more thing. If your giving the sensors a tug while the car is running and you hear it going to stall you could located the gas pedal cable and give it a rev or two by hand so it doesnt stall out and turn off. By the way. You van isnt over heating at all is it?

Honestly I wish I could offer you more info, if it revs now that eliminates the convertor, only I can figure is when you got it to rev you were "blowing the soot out" LOL I hope I have helped you some if so please rate me accordingly.

Car starts then stalls once the engine warms up.

You need new timing belt and gears. Buicks gears are made of plastic, and become a big glob. Nothing for the timing belt to grab onto.
