Question about 1997 GMC Jimmy

1 Answer

1997 jimmy wont start

I was sitting at a stop sign when it stalled. It started right back up but with no brake lights or turn signals. Drove it home. That was it! I have no fire but it turns over. I replaced the coil and it started right up, ran for 5 miles. turned it off and thats it. And the battery keeps going dead. Even on a charger, no fuel pump, no brake or turn signals, no fire.....HELP

Driving it home felt like the engine missed. Got home jump back in would not start. Fuel gauge and the amp gauge did not work. Replaced fuel pump. Replaced circuit brakers replaced relays. Not getting any spark at all. Turn the key to start and it turns the motor but thats all. Don't know what else to do!!

Ground cable or ECM is going bad. ECM is under the glove box.

My van won't start after driving a short distance, it will start again after 3 to 5 minutes but then will act like it's going to stall while I'm driving. What's wrong?

Hi Greg, I'm AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair in St Charles Mo

Greg, I read your complete message, but nowhere did I see that you replaced the Cam Sensor. The EGR will cause it to stall at stops but usually will not prevent it from restarting. I would try replacing the Cam Sensor before anything else. If you should need further assistance go to my website by clicking here: Auto Repair

1995 lincoln continental. Sitting at stop light, abs light comes on, drove home about 5 miles and abs lignt on and off the whole time. parked car and now wont start. just clicks. any suggestions?

Anytime a starter clicks instead of turning over, you should suspect your battery is weak. Try to get a jump start and take the car to an auto parts store. Most of them will do bettery and alternator checks for no charge.

check all fuses for turn signal and brake lights.change fuel filter . first. do a little tune up change spark plugs and wires . if changing fuel filter dont help. have fuel pressure check first before buying a new fuel pump .they run after taxes 400.00 dollars. your fuel pressure should be 41 to 47 psi. replace fuel pump relay also.
