Location of blower motor switch resistor on 2004 Grand Marquis

Where is the blower motor switch resistor on a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis and is that why I only have three of the four blower speeds (the third speed is the same as the second speed)?

The blower speed controller is located under the hood on the right or passenger side on the heater housing just to the side of the heater hoses near the very back of the right cylinder head.
Yes that would cause the concern you are having.

The blower motor relay is underdash, to the left of fusebox/computer by the steering column, it sits by itself and is fastened to the left wall of body. it can be seen better if the trim panel below the column is removed

I dont have power to my blower on a 1987 grand marquis station wagon and fuse is ok is it a resister?

Power goes from the fuse to the function select switch, then to the blower motor. The fan switch and the resistor is the ground circuit for the blower.

  • For this a 2004 Grand Marquis the blower motor resistor is located on the bottom of the heater/AC housing on the passenger side of the car under the instrument panel. You need to remove the glovebox off from the instrument panel to replace it.

Blower stopped working on my 2001 Mercury Grand marquis

Check the fuse first. If the fuse is good then either the blower motor or the blower motor resistor pack is defective. Check the blower motor by applying 12 volts directly to the motor. If it runs it is good and most likely the resistor pack is bad and needs replacing. it can also be the blower motor speed control but rarely do they go bad.

Need to change fan motor control switch? Only works on high setting.

this problem is not caused by the switch, it is caused by a defective blower motor speed control resistor, the resistor is located near the blower motor.

My 2004 grand marquis blower motor runs only on high so I assume its the resistor. Where is it located & what does it look like? Thanks! Bill

Its under the hood, just to the right and down of where the heater hoses connect on the firewall. It will have 4 wires going to it.
