Question about 1996 Lincoln Continental
1996 Lincoln Cont. will start only when it feels like it. It is a guessing game when you get in the car and try to start it once it is running it will get you wherever u need to go but when it gets shutoff and you try to restart it u never know if it is going to start
PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT dennymulford in the previous e-mail solved this problem, but the following words need to be corrected. He means the ignition switch , on the bottom of the steering column, inside the vehicle, which costs $19.29 at Advanced Auto Parts store.. The ignition module costs approx. $145.00, and is located outside the vehicle, under the hood. It appears that the ignition switch has had past overheating problems with many 96 Lincoln continental`s, so when the ignition switch is cool it works, and when it gets too hot, it does not work, and therefore you have a intermittent electrical problem, and so after a long waiting period when the switch cools again, it will work and the engine kicks right over.....so as posted above, only when the ignition "feels" cool enough (its always nice to feel cool) it works-----so remember----HEAT IS THE ENEMY!!!----------------------------------JWILSON
