Question about 1991 Honda Accord

Brake Light Control Module

Where is the brake light control module located on a 1991 Honda Accord.
I'm told that there are 2 of them. One for each side.

First off it's not the brake switch near the brake pedal under the dash.
When the brake is depressed only half the rear lights up.
All the bulbs are good. There isn't any corrosion on the wires. I have the part. Obtained from the Honda dealer but can't find it. Some other threads indicate it's in the trunk somewhere. There are supposedly 2 of them. One for each side of the rear brake lights.

This what the part number says it is.

Left side lights when the brake is pushed. Right side doesn't light at all and that includes the high mount brake light. At night everything lights up.

I did some more research and found that what I was sold is a brake lamp failure sensor. There are 2. I in each of the tail lights. One on the left is a 5 pin. The one on the right is a 6 pin. That is what the Honda dealer sold me a 6 pin. I will have to pull the right side taillight to get at the module.

I'll swap out the module tomorrow. It's strange that one side(the left) works when you apply the brakes and the right doesn't. From what I've been able to find on the net everything points to this faulty module. If that doesn't fix the problem I don't know what I will do as everything else checks out.

Yep, only one brake light working... but all tail lights work. The only working brake light is the driver's side. Although sometimes the lights decide to work. This is rarely, and they may only work once or they may work for a whole day.

91 Honda Accord has 2 separate tail lights on each side(total of 4 pieces). My problem stemmed from a faulty control module on the right hand side(passenger side). The module in question is located inside the smaller of the 2 tail light sections. In order to change the module you have to remove the tail light. There are 4 nuts holding in the taillight section and 2 phillips head screws holding the module in. The module on this side is 6 pin plug in. The one on the drivers side is a 5 pin plug in. Whole effort takes about 45 minutes. It is strictly plug and play.

2009 honda accord brake lights not working center brake light does work

First check the brake light fuse. If this is good check the brake switch located just above the brake pedal. When the brake is pressed the switch comes out and causes the brake lights to come on. If this is the problem the cruise control should not work because the cruise system thinks the break is pressed and this is one of the ways to disengage the cruise control.

Abs sensor

Whenever the ABS light remains on it means that the control module of the system has detected a problem in one of the systems components and it has turned off the ABS brake control, what you must do now is have the system system scanned for fault codes with a special tool.

Third brake light does not work, no power to the socket where might the problem be. The fuses are good

There is a bulb check module mounted, I believe, on the inside of the drivers side trunk mounted tail light. Power first has to go through this module before going to the various different tail and brake lights. Check the circuit board inside that module for shorted circuit lines, as it seems to be a common problem with those years Accords.

Check the prones inside the connector that you plug into the brake light module. You may have to squeeze, wiggle, tilt each one to see which one is not connecting all that good. I know it may sound confusing. I tried to explain the best of I could.

Brake lights do not work (3rd brakelight does) changed bulbs checked fuse

Problem could be the Brake Light Control Module. That's about the only other thing other than a bad wire somewhere if the bulbs and fuses are good. 91 Accord has 2. One on each side in the smaller of the 2 rear tail light lenses. In order to change the module you have to remove the smaller of the rear tail lights. Drivers side is 5 pin. Passenger side is 6 pin.
