1990 ford probe-Changed air filter now it won't idle at all!

I replaced the air filter and did a tune up.The car will start and goes straight up to x3 rpms and shuts right back off.If you sit there and rev the gas it will run but as soon as you take your foot off the gas, it shuts off.I dont know where to even start. The air flow sensor is plugged in and I never touched it.

Yes it is airflow problem...i had same problem....caused by crack in air duct between throttle body and engine...the rubber accordion like hose flexes too many times and cracks....look on the back side....tape over the crack or replace....100.00 new or 5 at wrecker.

Check and make sure you got all of the hoses reconnected. If you bumped one and didn't see it, you will have this type of problem.

Check the connections to your IAC (idle air control) valve and or remove it and clean it - do the same to your MAF sensor located just behind the air filter box, you will need CRC mass airflow sensor cleaner and a T20 torx bit, look for vaccuum leaks as well

You might try a new throttle position switch, they're easy to replace and not too expensive .

check airflow control valve, changed cat ?? quickest test for that is slacken exhaust manifold ,noisy but ??any blockage in exhaust system will show straight away.other problems could be fuel filter ,low fuel pressure crank sensor weak signal,i think you might find its cheaper to let dealer have look than change parts willy nilly .evan had a car doing this that some jealous neighbour had shoved a potatoe up the exhaust hence now the drop manifold down pipe part

1990 Ford Probe 2.2 automatic stalls in forward, reverse OK

Sounds like a bad IAC (idle air control valve/sensor) that controls your idle when going from throttle to idle. If bad your idle will act crazy and can cause stalls easily. Pretty sure that's it.

duck tape on the air intake. I just fixed mine. There is a crack on the intake that lets too much air in when you put it in drive that makes the car stall. Try it it works.

Car stalls and idles rough

On thing to check is the air duct hose that connects from the throttle body to the air cleaner housing. If it gets cracked it will cause stalling problems and very rough idle.
