Question about 1997 BMW 328
My tranny has been slipping and shuttering in 1st & 2nd and now a bit in 3rd. I have conflicting advice: BMW dealer says if you change the oil & filter the trans may just stop working entirely (I think that's because someone isn't doing it correctly) so they recommended getting a new one or a rebuilt one. I think I should have the fluid changed to see if I can fix it that way. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks
Well you can chg. the filter and fluid and put in some lucas trans. additive and see what happens, your only out the price of trans. service and the additive. you never know it might fixit (no pun intended.) a couple of hundred bucks compaired to a couple thousand bucks would be worth it to me, but thats your call its your car. The dealer dosent want to chg. the oil and filter they want to sell you a transmission for$$$$$. Good luck on whatever you deside. OLD SCHOOL.
