Upside down horse shoe illuminated.

Car was purchased yesterday. parked on a steep decline overnight.the horseshoe was illuminated and three tire things were also illuminated. Two brand new tires are on the vehicle, the other two are almost new. the lights went out after 20 minutes of driving. should I be alarmed? The car ran fine with the light on.

Hi there... The upside down horse shoes you are talking about sounds like the tire pressure monitors. Depending on the temperature outside,it could be why they lit up. When it get cold out below 0C the tires will loose some pressure and turn the lights on. Once it warms up the pressure in the tires increase and turn the lights off. If it is that light you have no reason to worry. Hope this helps you out.

SOURCE: illuminted upside down horse shoe after parking on steep decline

The symbol is for low tire pressure. I would go and check your tire pressure and make sure that they are in the proper operating range. Those lights should come on around 0 to 25 PSI

Low tire pressure, if your tire pressure is ok, then your sensor is bad. They are set to come on when the tires get to a certain PSI, usually putting air in the tires cures the problem right away

The little horse shoe-looking looking thing is actually supposed to be a cross-section of a tire. That would be your Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) trying to tell you to check the pressure in your tires because it has determined that one or more of them are low.

This is covered in the Owner's Manual.

I have a panel indicater light on

That horseshoe-looking warning icon on your instrument panel is a cross-section of a tire. It indicates that tire pressure is low in one or more wheels. It may also inndicate that one or more tire-pressure sensors in the wheels is faulty (small battery is worn out). The air valves on yoiur rims are equipped with pressure sensors, mounted on the inside of the rim. These sensors send a wireless signal to an on-board sensor that reports low tire pressure or faulty sensor. So, check your tire pressure. It may take a few days for that icon on the dash to extinguish.
