P0420 is a catalytic converter code. the ecu measures the difference between the upstream and downstream o2 sensors. your converter may be covered by warranty (check with your dealer)unless it has been damaged by the failure of a sensor or module such as an ignition module. hope this helps

98 honda accord how to clear check engine light car is fixed

You need an OBD-II scantool to reset the Check Engine light. Places like Autozone will read your codes for you but most will not reset the Check Engine light because of liability issues. You need to either purchase a code reader with reset capability or find someone who has one to do it for you.

Check engine light came on week ago. changed battery today and now check engine light not on. Will check engine light come on later?

The check engine light may come on later. When the check engine light comes on the computer in your car logs a code. This trouble code may or may not cause drivability issues. The computer in your car always tries to fix the problem. If the check engine light is not on, there is not a problem. It may come on later if it detects another problem. Changing the battery could have fixed some problems. The ground system on the cars cause a lot of problems for technitians. If the trouble light is not on, don't look to spend a lot of money to look for problems that the computer is not picking up.
