Car stops running suddenly

I have Toyota Nadia D4 of 1999, recently it happened that when I was driving at about 80kph the engine suddenly stops and coud not start. I tried to start it but in vain, i leave it for about 10 - 15 min then when tried again it started.
I experienced this like three times and when it happens, the "check engine light" does not appear on the dashboard the moment I put the switch ON. I used to try tighting different fuses, sometimes it works but sometimes doesn't.
Can any one out there help please, because this happens mostly when I drive for more than 10 - 15 km.

My Toyota Nadia stopped whilst running, I started it and smoke came out of the exhaust pipe. I left and the next morning mechanics told me it had mixed oil and drained about 10L of oil/petrol mixture.

Hello Louis,

As you have no doubt learned by now, the only way fuel can get into the oil is via the injectors (carb?) and for that to happen a stuck injector had to be pouring gas into the intake, where it bypassed the rings and joined oil in the sump.

That's a lot of gas! Car must have been running horribly. If the gas was in the sump long enough to thoroughly dilute the oil, you may also have bearing damage from inadequate lubrication.

First, fix the source of the gas, then carefully check for oil pressure.

No easy fix, in that case??.

all the best.

My 1999 Toyota Rav, while driving, suddenly became difficult to steer...the peddles also stiffened up. The engine then cut off and the lights came on. Suggestions?

Difficult to steer:Possible power steering belt failure.

Bad alternator? Check voltage at battery.Needs at least 12 V. to enguage starter. Try jumping the battery from another vehicle.

Toyota Nadia Stops suddenly

Check the fuel pressure when it stops ,could be a faulty fuel pump or even more so a faulty connection plug on the top of the fuel pump gauge sender unit

I have a 98 Chev. Blazer. While driving at approx. 80kph.the engine quit sputter or noise of any kind. When I turn on the key the fuel pump runs (slightly different sound than before) but...

check your fuel pressure it should be 55-61 psi with key on engine off.It should have a fitting on the fuel rail to hook a gauge up to.If below specs replace pump.

I recently bought a 1992 model toyota camry SV21 and 3S-FE engine, it starts well exept that when you try to accelerate, the engine will miss and would like to stall, so just to bring it home I rev it high...

the fuel must be adjusted ,it loses the torque, when press the accelerator ,the engine need more torque when moving the car on 1st gear, compare on the motorway, check for the fuel man ,this will affect the engine on long period
