Question about 1997 Ford Thunderbird LX
This is caused by the PCM not powering up. I would replace the PCM power relay in the battery junction box(fuse box under hood).

December 2011. Has anybody resolved this issue yet? That is, 97 Tbird 4.6 will crank all day but won't run until electric fan motor stops. It is not the IAC, MAP, MAF, ECT, etc. Light came on this past summer, runs like ****, Codes read all 3 O2 sensors & the ECT sensor. I have received advise on a bad ground somewhere, fan relays,etc. but none of them help. I am now resolved to pay a shop with a real scan tool (not an OB2 code reader)that can take a instantaneous read(snapshot photo) to see what the computer sees at startup. I had hoped someone would have figured this out by now. If you have a solution please write to me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I will gladly pay for the correct solution as opposed to paying the Ford dealer way too much money.
