Question about 2001 Ford Windstar
Check eng. light comes on the first time during the winter when there
is a quick change from mild to very cold since I bought the Van -
The codes read as above and once the spring comes and the light reset it never happens again till the next winter.
All info I can find points to a vacuum leak , particularly the PCV valve hose.
Should that be the first thing to check?
Problem is most likely the gaskets and isolator bolts between upper and lower intake manifolds.
Look at the rubber grommets on the bolts that bolt the upper intake to the lower. If they rubber grommets are black then this is most likely the concern. They have a new style gasket and bolts for this and the ford part number are XF2Z-9H486-AA for the gaskets and 3F2Z-9S479-AA for bolts (1 pack of 8 bolts).
