Hello;
First make sure alll your vacuum lines are connected and good. Then check the fuel pump shut off switch. It may be weak and tripping and then resetting. Hope this helps; rate me highly.
Thanks

My 1995 jimmy will not start sounds like its out of gas. Car ran perfectly ok until now. Help!

You may have a dirty fuel filter or a weak fuel pump. You fuel pressure should be 62-65 PSI when the fuel line is pressurized engine not running and should drop around 5psi when the engine is running.
Try spraying some starter fluid in through the air intake tube, not down the throttle body (bad). If the engine starts, then it's not your ignition system and you have a fuel pressure issue that will need to be addressed.
Start with the simple and replace the fuel filter and check your fuel pressure at the shredder valve on the fuel line by the fuel injector lines at the back of the engine. If fuel pressure is low, inspect the ground wire to your fuel sending unit pump before replacing it.
Thank you for using Fixya and good luck.

Replaced fuel pump, and it starts now but runs

I would next check the fuel pressure regulator if the pump was not pumping, or the filter was plugged some of the leftover waste in the lines from one or the other of these issues may have plugged the regulator causing inconsistent fuel pressure that would cause the engine to run rough, or possibley cut out fuel entirely, causing the vehicle to die

Car died after stopping at a light and proceeding up a small hill

Let's start with the simple things. Change the fuel filter first and check the fuel pressure at the shredder valve. The fuel pressure should be 60 to 65psi with the fuel line pressurized and should drop by 5 psi when engine is running. Keep me posted, be glad to help.If there is an Auto Zone around your area you can lone out a fuel pressure gauge and they will have the step y step instructions for you to get the job done. Good luck.

98 gmc jimmy loses power to a stop

the fuel pump could actually be malfunctioning. and the reason that you are able to restart and drive again is because when you turn the key on it is allowing the fuel pump to pressureize your system. but while the fuel pump is continuasly running it is loosing the fuel pressure. this is common on the cheap fuel pumps. i am not sure about were you got the fuel pump from but in all of my experiances with this problem i find that the fuel pumps have been boughten at a napa store.
i hope this helps you out.
and you could attach a fuel pressure gauge on to the fuel rail and start the car and watch the pressure to see if it is droping.
