Question about 2006 Scion xA

A/c and heater sometimes won't turn on.

Out of no where my a/c won't turn on. I restarted the car, and it worked fine. But then the next day, it did the same thing. Not only does the a/c not work, the heat will not come on either. Any ideas??

You need to Check the Fuses and Relays in the Box under the Hood and the Box Inside the Car. There should be a Blown Fuse. I own the Exact same car, Year and all, and it Did this to me. It was just a Blown Fuse. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!

This engine is electronically controlled so the first thing that must be done here is to have the systems control computer tested for fault codes and then do the proper diagnostics based on those codes.

you may have to check the fuel pump function for pressure and volume when this happens as it could be a bad pump, you could have it checked when working as it could show up something but more likely should be done when it stops running.

#1 lights inside car mean squat they are very low draw how about radio heater headlights...and trying your ignition...I suggest you clean your battery teminal after fully charging your battery and make sure the terminals are nice and tight and then try starting your car w/out turning anything else on if it starts you have solved it if you drive it and it dies then you are just using juice in battery have alternator and battery lode tested at a reputable garage most will do for free on hopes of selling you what you need if they are ok then cherck your starter good luck

I think I'd have to gamble on a new relay, and clean up contacts in those sockets with electrical cleaner, then add dielectric grease before plugging in new one. Do the pump first obviously.

Car runs fine till it is turned off

two things come to mind....
1- a electrical component may be heat sensitive and not function after turn off heat soak
2- your fuel pump check valve isn't holding fuel pressure in the fuel loop
Next time check for spark...if thers's spark it's a fuel problem

Heat in my 94 Toyota Tercel has a problem and so does the ignition.

warm your car up to temperture. Grab the upper rediator hose. Is it warm or cool. If its cool your thermosat is stuck closed and thats why you have no heat. If that works fine I would look at your heater core next.
