You need to switch your air flow from recirculate...to out side input...the recirculate always fogs up when cold or wet outside...Hope this helps. Use the defrost mode...but be sure recirculate is off...
On a Cadillac, as long as the AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL is set to " AUTO ", the A/C compressor is in operation, and your windows will remain clear wet or humid weather conditions. On the " ECON " position, the compressor is NOT OPERATING. A manual system in any type of vehicle, will also accomplish the same thing. Even in the COLD weather , put the A/C SYSTEM into the ON position with the compressor operating. Temperature adjustment can be manuallly, made wth the temp dial or lever. You will be pleasantly surprised how well this will clear the fog quickly.
the window frosting up ( fogging up ) is from the hot humid air inside the cab hitting the cold glass. To quickly get rid of it run the ac unit as well and that dehumidifies the air and the fog goes. It is called climate control
2 possibilities: 1 - HVAC External Drain Tube stopped up with dirt, bee nest, etc. Hard to get to w/out a car lift. Need to clear and drain HVAC box. 2 - Leaking heater core inside HVAC box. Moisture from defog will smell sweet and be hard to clean off glass. Requires Dash removal and AC service to replace Heater Core. Very time consuming and Expensive A-Freeze fumes are also lethal if inhaled.
Try Solution #1 First, Least Expensive, Non-Lethal Condition.
IN COLD WEATHER USE BI LEVEL AND TURN ON HEAT ON AC AND HEATER MODE SWITCH AND HEAT MODE THAT WILL KEEP WINDOWS FROM FOGGING UP KEEP CAR WARM ON THE INSIDE WHEN COLD OUT SIDE ALWAY CARRY PAPER TOWER OR SOME THING TO WIPE WINDOWS WHEN FOG UP MOST TIME I HAVE PROBLEM WINDOWS FOGGING UP WHEN YOU HAVE COLD RAIN OUT SIDE.IF WINDOWS FOG REALLY BAD I HAVE TO TURN MODE SWITCH TO COLD MODE AND TURN ON DEFOGGER.
the fresh air door is stripped at the motor, jaguar has a bulletin, about glueing .....works for a while, long term fix replace heater plenum assy...... Or rig the door to stay in a midpoint postion, access below the pollen filter
your heater core has probably sprung a leak.does the fog smell kinda sweet?....check the floor in the front where the floor mats are for moisture or even puddles of antifreeze.(the replacement of a heater core can be very expensive as the entire dash usually needs to be removed to access the heater core)also look under the engine near the firewall for antifreeze drips.
