Locate the Fuse Relay Box under the Hood and Locate the Fan Relay and Change it from this Box. The Diagram should be inside the Lid for the Box or in the Owners Manual. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!

Cooling fan will not turn on

Does it overheat? Which engine does your jeep have? If it has the 4.0, then it has an electrical cooling fan and the control relay most of the times fries. Its hidden under the bumper cover under the right hand headlight (seen from drivers position). Many time this relay fries due to the fan which is drawing too much current.
If your jeep has the 4.7, then it has a hydraulic cooling fan. That fan always idles (300 rpm) when the engine runs and will ramp up when the engine temperature gets too high. There is a control solenoid for this fan, but when its bad, then you should have the check engine light. Check for fault codes using the key dance: ignition switch off/run three times and leave in run at the third time. The odometer will show "DONE" when all ok, or any fault code(s).

My radiator coolant fan would not shut off when the engine was turned off so I changed the relay. Everything now seems to be working as it should except that the "Service Engine Soon" stays on...

That means your computer through an error code and you will need to take it to an autoparts store and find out what error code it through!

NOTE: The radiator coolant fan should be operating until the collant temperature drops.

How do i get the check engine soon light off, IT CAME ON WHEN I REPLACED radiator fan relay.

Go to Advance Auto or Auto Zone and ask them to connect the code reader to your vehicle and tell you what the fault codes are. That will tell you where to look for the problem. It could be a bad connection on the new relay or something else, you won't know until you get the code.

P1491 diagnostics code for 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Trouble Code: P1491 You PCM does not sense current to radiator fan when it turns it on. Is the fan coming on or not? Usually not when you have this code. Problem can be with the fuse, relay, wiring or fan itself. First check the fuse. If good, next try swapping the relay with another one in the engine compartment relay box, such as the horn relay.
Let the car warm up and see if the fan will come on. If yes, get a new relay. If not, either use a test light to see if there is voltage at the fan connector when the engine is on and hot, or else test the fan motor by hotwiring it to the battery. If none of this works, please get back to me for how to troubleshoot the wiring.

Check engine light appears after 30 minutes of

ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS Dodge OBD1 Pre 96

1. Cycle the ignition key ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON within 5 seconds. To cycle the ignition key ON means to turn it only as far as it takes to get the radio to come on. It does not mean to turn the engine on.

2. Count the number of times the "check engine" lamp on the instrument panel flashes on and off. The number of flashes represents the code. There is a slight pause between the flashes representing the first and second digits of the code. Longer pauses separate individual codes. For example, flash-flash-flash [pause] flash-flash represents the code 32.

A code of "55" represents end of error codes. If this is all you get then no error codes are stored in the computer. This is the normal condition

Hi. Thanks for your time. I have a 1994 Chrysler LeBaron Convertible. The check engine light has come on and after checking the codes I got a 1,2 then a 3,2 and finally a 1,7. Any ideas what they mean?...

A code 12 is the ECT or engine coolant temp sensor voltage too low.
32 is is the Low speed fan control relay circuit
17 is injector control circuit

It may be best to have someone with a scanner to determine if your fan circuit / relay sensor is getting proper voltage however you may be able to at least check to make sure the sensor is plugged in securely and is located on passenger sode of engine near the distributor.

Plymouth voyager 1994 check engine code 34 35 5

34 = Speed Control Solenoid Circuits: An Open or Shorted Condition has been detected in the Speed Control Vacuum or Vent Solenoid Circuits.
35 = Radiator Fan Relay Circuit: An Open or Shorted Condition has been detected in the Radiator Fan Relay Circuit.
That 5 at the end should have had another 5 after. Did it? 5-blinks and 5-blinks means the system has finished sending the Codes.
