Need to check the coolant level to ensure that it is full. If full, check the hoses going to the heater core. Both hoses should be hot. If one is much colder than the other, you have a stopped up heater core. If that is fine, check to be sure the engine is getting as hot as it should. A stuck open thermostat will not allow the coolant to heat up enough and not blow hot air. If all that is good, check the blend door under the dash. It may be getting stuck in between the hot cold positions and not allowing all the air to flow over the heater core.
If both heater hoses are getting hot then you know the coolant has to be flowing and the core should be hot.
What you will have to do is locate the blend air door servo.
The blend air door is a door (or flap) between the heater core and the A/C evaporator (even without a/c there is still a door to control the cabin temp)
Early vehicles with the slider controls used a cable but the later vehicles with a rotary knob or digital buttons use a servo to rotate the door mechanism.
The servos can go bad and the switches as well.
But from the sounds of it, your door is not moving to allow the heat through the vents.
OK, first make sure that both heater hoses are hot, if they are then there is a little moter in the dash called a blend door actuater it moves the blend door from hot to cold it can be a pain to change. now if you have one hot hose and one cold hose you need a heater core and it is a major job to replace it now here is were it gets a little tricky in the past 3 or 4 weeks we have had 2 ford trucks come in with no or little heat and both heater hoses were just luke warm and after replacing the heater core and still not getting any heat we found that the impeller on the water pump was rusted away it still moved just enough water to keep the truck from overheating but not enough to supply the heater core..
