Question about 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis
This car has 230K miles on it. At first only the traction control light came on cornering at expressway speeds. Now the amber ABS and red brake lights come on and go out; about half the time I'm driving. This often starts when I drive over a parking lot bump, etc. Just before the ABS and brake lights go off the traction control light comes on briefly. Do you guys think the ABS computer is bad or the ABS wheel sensors/wiring or what. Your opinion is appreciated!
The red brake light is the key here. That usually indicateds a hydraulic problem. Check you fluid level in master cylinder and see if it is low. Also the level indicator sensor there in the master cylinder maybe sticking or corrioded. If ABS sees the red brake light it will shut off and turn on the ABS light, also traction control would be disabled as well.
