Here's a few technical service bulletins regarding what your experiencing. Best part is that Saturn has sent this many technical service bulletins to the dealers, but fail to acknowledge they have a problem, that they should fix, free of charge. I believe this is the year they started or redesigned electronic steering system, and we all know what happens first year out. Sorry I don't have an answer on what you should do, but I would definitely call Saturn owner relations and quote some of those bulletins listed at the link, just to see if any retribution is offered. Owner relations number should be in manual. Good Luck & keep us posted. http://www.allworldauto.com/tsbs/2004_SATURN_ION_tsbs_c142-10512-2004-23-1.html
Hi Ellen. The battery on your stratus is located in the left (driver side) fender in front of the wheel. There are battery terminals under the hood though, which you can use to jump start or charge the battery from. If the battery needs to be replaced, the easiest way would be to remove the left front wheel and then an access panel in front of the wheel. The wheel does not need to be removed, according to the manual, but it does make things easier. This is a 30 minute procedure to remove the battery. All this info and more is available in the cars owners manual. If you don't have the manual, you can download it for free at this site: there is a diagram of the under hood terminals. http://www.dodge.com/en/owners/manuals/index.html
