Car wont start, radio wont work but lights work

I agree with Jerry - sound like perhaps your ECM fuse is blown which would prevent your car brains from working. Take off the cover, invest in a tiny fuse puller - you can see the break in the "U" shaped metal or black splat if the fuse cut-loose. Also, make sure you don't have anything plugged-into your cigarette/power outlet(s) and after checking/replacing fuses, retry restarting your car. Also, what red light is on - the two zig-zag lighting bolts, or all/some of your lights?

most likely is ignition switch. it is adjustable. under the dash on the steering column there are two bolts that holt a square box onto the column. that is the ignition switch. may need to be slid down towrds the pedals. can be aggravating trying to fine adjust it. if that doesnt work, replace it. about 25$

Shifter on steering column stuck

You'll have to remove the steering column. There's a few bolts that hold it to the bottom of the dash and a couple that attach it to the steering shaft before it goes through the firewall into the engine compartment. Remove that section of column and towards the bottom of it your find 2 torx screws. Tighten those screws back up and reinstall the column. The screws, in time, work themselves loose and cause this problem.

1998 ford expedition wont go in park

There is a bracket at the base of the steering column that holds the shift cable, there are two bolts that hold the bracket to the steering column, these bolts can come loose and prevent the cable from engaging the trans into park, you can access these bolts by laying under the dash without removing anything, the bolts are #30 torx, if they are loose, tighten them up and see if engages into park. have a good day !!

My steering column is loose on my 1977 cadillac. How do I tighten it up. It appears to be loose where it attaches to the dashboard.

there should be two bolts going through a bracket around the column. the bolts attach to the metal part ot the dash.

Shifter wont go into 1st and sometimes wont go

It sounds like the bushings on the steering column that hold the shifter in place are worn out ot the brackets holding the bushings in place have come loose allowing for excessive movement with the shifter shaft. These things also had a problem with a bracket coming loose at the lower part of the steering column. You can look up under the dash (laying on your back) and find the shifter cable where it attaches to the shifter shaft. There are tree bolts that hod this bracket on. If they come loose you will have this same problem To fix it you need a T-30 torx socket and a ratchet to tighten these three bolts.

Step by step replacing heater core in 1999 escort removel 1998 ford escort heater core i have every thing unhooked evering under dash dash unhookrd and all bolts remover the heater box wont come out

If bolts won't come out and you've taken the nuts off, Then they are stiuds.Locate the heater hoses where they enter the firewall. The heater core is right on the other side of firewall. Which you probably already know. Good luck

Thermostat lights wont come on

Check the in dash lights to see if they are burnt out or you have a bad connection or bad wire. this could be do to having an after market sound system.I had similar problems with a 97 Plymouth Breeze i.e. loose connection.

1995 crown vic gear problems/gear shift wont lock

if the shifter is loose and sloppy feeling then the shift cable bracket has come loose under the dash at the steering wheel. remove the lower panel under the steering wheel so you can see under the dash then get flash light and look while jiggling the shifter. you should be able to see the cable and bracket. if the bracket is loose then tighten the bolts. note this bracket is at the steering colum.
