Question about 2001 Ford Focus

1 Answer

Loud squeaking noise from front end wheel or axle area.

This sound accurs when moving and hitting even small bumps uneven sections of the road, while turning right and going straight. This sound also occurs when getting in and out of the vehicle. The weight of my body getting in and out is enough to make the squeaking sound. Not sure if this is related to the Sway Bar, CV Joint, or certain bearings. Can anyone give me their idea of what is causing this? Thank you very much :)

I have the exact same problem with my 2002 crown victoria, but I just had my front suspension fixed. I never had this problem before. Could the new suspension have caused the rubber mounts to act this way?

It can be from both the struts and any piece of frame or body that has a rubber mount.(most likely struts and A arms making the noise)

I hit a median while turning left. Why does my vehicle make a loud squeaking noise when I turn the steering wheel or when I hit a bump?

Please get your car checked. You may have bent the Tie rods or the control arm and the Ball joint is making the Squeaking noise. Sway bar end links and Strut bearing will also make noise going over bumps.

I need help with my 1994 pontaic grand am. I just bought the car and it has a terrible clunking noise in the front mostly when I turn the wheel. What could this be? Could it be tie rod, cv joints, shocks or...

Jack up the wheel and see if it has play up and down and left and right. Have someone watch inboard as you move it. A bad cluck will usually show itself.

Loud noise when i hit bumps and turn the sterling

chances are that noise is the ball joints telling you they are dry and have no grease and they should be replaces fairly soon

Squeak

how about brake calipers?

squeaky noise is common from brake pads going against the brake disc.

This is caused by lose calipers or stiff calipers unable to fully open up. This makes the brake pads very close to the brake disc.

When you are travelling at a certain speed, tension on the wheels may cause it to incline inwards or outwards at a very small degree but that is enough to get the brake pad to rub against the disc causing the squeak.

Another possiblity is the brake disc rubbing against the disc guard. Usually metal and behind the disc. You said you had a collision, this may have distorted the disc guard causing some parts to touch the brake disc.

Creaking noise in front end 1997 explorer

Sounds like it is your CV axles.  Turn the wheel one direction, right or left, and check just behind the wheels to see if your CV boot is cracked or ripped (the boot is a black, rubber accordion looking thing).  If it is cracked or ripped, I would say that is definitely the problem.

Creaking, squeaking sound going over bumps and uneven road surfaces and when turning wheel sometimes on a 95 Merc. Mystique

jack up the front of the car so both wheels are off the ground.
turn the wheels side to side, and listen for the noise.
it could be ball joints or stabilizer links.
there are after market ones available with grease points on them.
the original are sealed and go after about 10 years
