Question about 1986 Ford F150 SuperCab

F150 Brake Lights

My brake lights do not work. I was told that the brake lights work off my turn signal bulbs, which are working. I also was told that if my flashers were not working (which their not) that I had a switch problem. I replaced the switch on the brake petal and they still do not work. Am I overlooking a fuse somewhere or what should I check next.

I checked to see if I had a power problem by putting a paper clip across the electrical wires {one green & one green red wire) across the connector without disconnecting it from the brake switch. My brake lights did not come on. I checked my turn signals and they are not now working (were before).

Recommend you get a cheap 12v test light for about $5 from O'Reilly or NAPA. It will come in handy. Then I would first check for power to and thru the brake lamp switch. If you don't have power at the switch then check fuses with your test light. If all the fuses are good then check the harness close to the switch, these old units are bad about wires braking near the switch. If you find that then you can get a repair connector/harness at any brand name parts store. I don't have a wiring schematic for a 86 model to tell you which fuse actually feeds the brakes so I can only say check all of them.Good thing is on this model it doesn't have that many to check.

Brake lights not working on my 1985 ford f150 after I replaced the brake switch

disconnect turn signal switch wires @ column, put power to wires to brake lights. that cks wiring to lights. next put power to wires through turn signal to ck switch. Power runs from brake light switch to turnsignal switch, to lights.

!997 Ford Thuderbird brake lights and hazards do not work

Lets start at the beginning.
The turn signals and brake lights use different fuses but both go thru the turn signal switch and use the same bulbs.
Have you checked the fuses for each circuit and does each switch have power in and out ?

2005 f150 stx my passenger side brake light want come on when i push the brake and the turn signal want blink on same side what fuse or relay i need to check?

Your brake and turn signal probably use the same bulb so check that first also check the bulb socket for corrosion. If it was a fuse or relay none of the lights may not work.

I have a 2004 Ford F-150. The brake lights stopped working but the turn signals and runnung lights work. I checked the fuse and the light bulbs but no problems there. What could it be?

The issue is most likely the Brake pedal switch because the barke and turn signals use the same wires from the combination/turn siganl switch to the tail lights. I might just need an adjustment.

Brake switch on pedal is working and there's no blown fuses and brake lights don't work bulbs are good cant find a short either

If the 3rd brake light works but not the lower lights then you have a wire depined from the multifunction turn signal switch or the M switch is bad.

I have a 91 F-150 XLT Lariat.. Brake Lights and both signals work fine with the lights off, but when the lights are on the Left signal and brake light does not work...(tail light DOES work though..only the...

Check the bulb. The problem has to be right there at the socket for the left rear. You do understand how the two filament bulbs work? The brake and turns use one filament, while the park lights use the smaller , less bright filament. And the bulb has two buttons on the bottom that touch two buttons in the socket. That is how the current is carried separate for the two lights.
It sounds like your bulb is wrong, or the socket itself is compromised.

1999 f150 turn signals and brake lights out. High mast still work

The signal lights work through a relay but the brake lights work through the signal switch, if both are out I think you'll find the problem is the signal switch.

Brake lights

If all of the wiring, fuses, bulbs, and switches are good (which is what it seems since everything else works fine including the turn signals on the passenger taillight), sounds like it may just be a bad socket. I have a somewhat similar problem on a 1986 F150.
