GOLF 6 2008 right mirror automatic tilt down not working

Though in the SETTINGS CONVENIENCE MIRROR DOWN menu the small square is checked, the right mirror does not automatically tilt down to the preprogrammed position when R is selected. I have followed the memory programming procedure exactly as described in the manual. Wrong procedure maybe?

I have already asked the dealer and claims that tilting mirror is an optional function that works if the "auto folding mirrors" have been ordered. But this does not makes any sense as all necessary electronics and motors are present. Also (and most important) the presence of the "MIRROR DOWN" menu indicates that the dealer is wrong!

Sounds like it ,these fancy new cars and their electronics,a mechanics nightmare to be truthfull.try reading the manual again if still no success then take it back to dealer as you could have a fault in the controlling processor.

not programmed into the computer ,and i suppose they want megabucks to programme it in .,And yes you will have the control for it though because its cheaper to only fit one unit.I dont think autozone can reprogramme it because its encrypted software ,and you cant evan change your own oil or brake pads without the factory immobiliser cutting in,if a light bulb blows then it limited to 30mph and if you change the bulb it still has to go back to dealer to lift the fault code.Modern car .anyway best of british with it only sorry i couldnt be of any help

On some autos the switch that moves the mirrors needs to be set in the center section vs right or left. On some if its if its to the drivers side and you have it in reverse the mirrors will tilt down.

Lexus SC 430 car mirror will not adjust vertically?

As the miles and years pour on with a few examples, the side mirrors is an area that can cause some grief. Here is a brief write up on how to service the side mirrors on these cars.

Issue: Continuous clicking noise from mirror anytime the car is placed in reverse and the mirror only tilted half way down. Mirror was adjusted fine. My car is out of warranty.

Options:
1) New mirror-guessing here-$350.00-$500.00 installed.
2) Fix the current mirror using parts from another mirror. Mirror assembly does not need to be removed from car.

I picked up a side mirror for a pretty good deal off of Ebay and though it was not the correct color, I was only interested in the guts.

OK, first thing is to remove the mirror. Grab the mirror on the bottom and yank out with a quick tug towards you. The bottom of the mirror should pop out and then the top of the mirror slides out. You will then see the image below.Often times just one side of the bottom mirror comes out. Just pull on the other side.
E-These two leads are for the mirror heater. Just pry them out from the mirror using a flat head.
A-Those slots is where the top of the mirror slides into/out of during an R/R.
B-This is where the mirror snaps into/or out of during an R/R
C-Once the mirror is out of the way-remove this screw and the spring behind it. The white plastic square mirror holder can now be pulled out. Be gentle as there are two plastic worm bolts attaching this to the motor arms. Just give it a tug and work it out.
D-Now remove these 3 phillip screws which hold the front and rear housing together. This is the tricky part as on the bottom right Marked E is a plastic piece that snaps both pieces together. Moving the housing up and down will get it to lodge loose. In my case the tiny little clip snapped but no big deal
as the mirror goes back just fine. You may be able to pry into the inside end of the mirror by removing a plastic clip (not shown). Get this and everything else is easy.

Passenger side mirror must constantly be adjusted. Is fine with truck running, after shutoff, the mirror points down and must be re-adjusted

There is a feature on the topend models called something like "Park Assist". It is suppose to tilt the mirror down when you put the vehicle into reverse so the outside mirror will show the curb. This is suppose to help in parallel parking.

The control for this feature is on the Electronic menu. This menu also has the Auto doorlocks, Alarm Chirp, and a few other gadgets. Since the Mirror control is obviously out of control you may try to turn this feature OFF. The Owners manual should show you how. I know that one of the buttons advances the Menu and another changes the setting.

If the Mirror changes settings with the door slamming, then its a problem with the cable running through the doorjam.

Just off the top of my head; try facing motor from fan-end,on the right side of the block under the manifold set-up, a small flexible mirror should help you see it.

Right mirror was smashed & now both mirrors(?) get adjusted, not 1

Hi, try to see if the cables that enter the right mirror case have any damaged insulation due to collision. But before this check a menu at SETTINGS\CONVENIENCE\ about mirrors that enables a synchronized adjustment of both mirrors. This should be set at "individual".
