2004 Ford Focus ZTS engine whine/ noise

I have a noise coming from the engine or exhaust that may be an exhaust leak. I discovered with the help of a friend that while I am starting the car, the muffler bangs into the bottom of the car making a repetitive thud until the engine starts up. While hitting the gas, I can hear the engine revving louder than usual (sounds like a whining noise). This sound sometimes goes away when the car hits a small speed bump or hill and during left turns. I feel this may be related to the muffler being unstable. Am I accurate here? Please help.

Me again. I had a mechanic look at this and it was indeed the engine mounts. My question now is the engine whine related to the mounts being broken? Also, it seems my tranny may be leaking. I have a 5 speed and this is a first for me.

The exhaust system on this vehicle has to be able to flex or it would crack at one of the joints, so it has hangers with rubber bushings to hold it into place and still be able to flex with the engine. Now grant it one of these bushings may have come loose or one of the hangers may have broke but I would be concerned about the thumping of the exhaust against the floor board. This could be caused by a broken motor mount letting the engine flex to much. I would suggest having someone inspect these.

Absolutely, You will need to get some Brackets ReWelded for the Exhaust. You may have more than one Busted. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!

2005 ford focus makes a roaring noise while in park when you press on the gas. Sounds like it's come from the back of motor where exhaust connects to motor. ????

My friend's 2004 Focus was doing the same thing - especially loud when accelerating from a stop. When it reached stable speed, it got much quieter. We thought it was exhaust also, but couldn't find any cracks, gaps, or obvious leaks. We brought it to a garage, and they found a bad motor mount. When the engine was under load, it would torque (against either the frame or firewall) and make the loud, irritating noise. A new engine mount, and it sounds almost new again.

Check your power steering fluid level. If it is low that is probably what is causing the noise. The pump is running dry. If that is the problem it means you have a leak somewhere. I have had this issue with my Focus for awhile. I just check the fluid often. I don't fix things until I absolutely have to. Check your manual my Focus uses transmission fluid for the power steering system.
