Question about 1995 Volkswagen Jetta
It will close but it won't latch so the door just swings open, i don't know when or why it happened, anyone know how i can fix it and how much it will cost?
I had this problem too and it turned out the piece that the door handle attaches to broke. i glued and taped up mine and it works fine now. its worth a look if the WD40 thing doesn't work.

First thing to try is lots of penetrating spray at latch assy. Up down all around on any angle you can get it in there with the little red tube attached to spray can, WD-40 will work. Keep working your handle(s) locks etc while your doing it, it may take a little while if it's seized or rusted. Once it's working again (hopefully) spray with white lithium grease or similar to keep it lubricated, and don't forget your other latches also.

Response to 1995 Jetta door that won't latch. If you have a power door lock system connected with your alarm; (locking driver door locks all doors and turns on alarm), it will cost a minimum of $400.00 to replace the power door lock module (includes labor). My sister had the driver side replaced four years ago. The passenger door side went out about a month ago.
