I recommend new but a breakers yard will be alot cheaper, the bush is only available with the linkage.

SOURCE: rear suspension

the best thing to do is bring it to a local shop
i dont know what it is like where you are but at my shop it doesnt cost anything to see what a problem is. anything is usually replaceable and if it is a bushing in the suspension it is probably a trailing arm or a lateral link "i think that is the real part name" they are not expensive. phone a couple of garages and ask them if there is a cost to find the problem

SOURCE: hi, ive replaced the rear links, shocks, sway arm

Any bushing that is worn out could be a possibility. The other thing you have to check if the bushing moved so it's not centered anymore. I always making sure all nuts and bolts are tight. Also look for rusty areas when metal to metal rubs it take paint and or undercoating off then rust. Sometimes you can find problems with car is at normal riding height so try car ramps. Don't leave exhaust out, shake it bang on it with hand or rubber mallet. I have run into lugnuts bottoming out before they tighten wheel. I hope I given you any ideas.

Absolutly not, Required for inspection. And no your vehicle does not have one in the rear. You have a solid axle I would take to get a sec. opinion, for sure, A sway bar is mostly used for racecars for distrubate wight. There is a lot with them but not a front wheel drive, I could be wrong but i have never seen one, But i would still get a sec, anytime you have a major issue that there trying to cost you a sm fortune, best of luck to you.

What are swey bars on a ford focus

A sway bar is a suspension piece that keeps the left and right side of vehicle connected to help with turns. They are held together through sway bar links at each end, which are fairly common to break or rattle over bumps.

I have a 2005 Trailblazer. I have had the stalilizer bar replaced, new ball joints, greesed the fittings on the ball joints. New calipers, rotos and branke pade. HOWEVER, I still have a clunking sound...

They are really bad for the lower control arm bushings causing a clunk noise. You can't see movement by checking on a hoist, but lubing them will help only temporarily. I did a lot of them under warranty, but being 2005 I'm sure yours has expired. I' would highly recommend changing them to eliminate the clunk noise.

The lower control arm bushings in this car are not the best quality you should check them and also sway bar links and bushings are very common.

2001 Tarus clunking sound

very common problem is the sway bay end links that attach to the strut from the sway bar. They sound like a light chuckling knock over bumps. The bushings that hold the subframe up wear or the bolts loosed due to the bushings wearing. usually the rear ones The bushings are 2 piece ,upper and lower Tighten with 18mm socket

Loud clunking noise in front end over bumps

This is most likely one or both of these:

The intermediate steering shaft loses lubrication and develops a clunk - this is an engineering deficiency in many GM products dating back to the early 90s.

and/or

The electrically assisted steering column actually has plastic gears in it which wear down quickly, get sloppy and cause clunking through the steering wheel.

If your car is out of warranty, this will be expensive.

GM knows about both of these issues, and continues to engineer these problems into their products.
