Every time I open my door my panic alarm goes off and I can't get it to stop until I pull my horn fuse and my headlight fuse I hav ethe identical problem I have a 2000 sebring two door and if I open either door the alarm system goes off. I key fob is ok, I have tried unlocking the car with the key and it still goes off. Until I find a solution I have removed the alarm fuse ( under the dash driver side) and removed the horn fuse ( under the hood) so now only my headlights flash, now at least my neighbors quit staring at me. any ideas on what could be wrong? or does anybody have a fix? is there anyway of by passing and removing the alarm system, it is not that expensive of a car that I am concerned about the alarm system

Hi..the reason for the problem is the security
system. If ther is any short of wire or any damage
in the wiring system it could lead to this problem.
so this problem occurs every time u open the
door or close. So the security system of your car
should be checked.so call ur car expert to attend
this problem.
check it out..
thank u..

Is the alarm factory or aftermarket?

sounds as if the onboard disarm relay is not functioning properly.
It is inside the brain of the alarm, and the only way to fix - is replace the brain.

If its aftermarket, a substitute should be easy to find. Factory alarm (depending on dealership) may have outsourced a local shop for the install, however if you have an ALARM fuse on the fusepanel - it is probably a factory problem and will need servicing by a dealership.

The workaround is as you have already done - pull the fuses temporarily - or use the remote and try to enter valet mode (bypass).

Please see your vehicle user manual on instructions how to get into this mode - usually by pressing a combination of buttons on the keyfob - or a sequence of turning car on/off a few times and keyfob buttons.

Thank for using FixYa - a FixYa rating is appreciated!!

On some models you can disable the alarm after you connect the battery by locking and unlocking the driver door with the key.
I would disconnect the horn or pull the relay until you can get the alarm turned off.

What your hearing is the factory alarm not the horn. Connect the battery when the alarm sounds go to the drivers door lock with the key and lock and unlock the door until the alarm goes off . Then reinstall the fuse for the horn.,

My Mitsubishi Montero, 2003 horn is going off in the middle of the night. I beat on the horn pad serveral times until it stops, then in a couple of hours it goes off again and the police show up. Is it...

Is the alarm causing the horn to honk? If so, you need to figure out what is causing the alarm to trigger, which could be any number of things.
Or, the panic module could be failing.
It is least likely to be the horn ring unless the only way you can get the horn to stop is by "beating the horn button on the steering wheel".

If it is, then you can replace the parts for the horn button, but you will need to get an assembly manual for the vehicle. Be sure to disconnect the battery before attempting to remove the airbag module. If it goes off, then you risk injury, and, they are not cheap to replace.

My alarm system is going nuts it flashes the headlights and blows the horn until the battery goes dead,or till the cops show up and make me disconnect the battery, lol it's not funny anymore (HELP!!!)only...

You have to roll up all the windows lock all the doors and use your key to unlock on of the front doors or the trunk when the alarm is going off. I don't remember which it was. Remember all doors must be closed and locked with the windows up for this to work.

I had a friend who had a similar problem on a Pontiac and he found out that he had an aftermarket alarm system put on and either when he locked the doors with the key and opened them with the remote or vice versa, it would do that. What is probably wrong is you have two alarms interfering with each other....
