Down shift hard

At 30 mph, while slowing down, it down shifts hard. Only code that comes up is PO562. I first noticed this after changing the front brakes.

Get a tranny flush and filter change, make sure you get a flush as well or the contaminated fluid will remain in the valve body and torque converter, if this may not cure it completly but will buy you some time to save up for repairs, it has nothing to do with the brakes

Sounds to me that you need your trans fluid changed and filter. When you do change it use a quart of Lucas transmission conditioner to it. Also check and see if you may have a bad univercel, It will also make it vibrate at faster speeds or your drive shaft may need to be rebalanced.

When i am slowing down the transmission seams to down shift hard at about 28-30 mph

I had something very similar and it turned out to be a loose bolt (or bushing). I think it was the engine mount. Good luck.

1997 Dodge Ram 1500 automatic transmission won't shift out of 1st

It sounds like your speed sensor may have gone bad.
If you can get it to Auto Zone they can scan the truck for you and let you know if it is the speed sensor. Auto Zone scan for free and and may have the parts right there.
The part is  not that hard to replace and they can give you the instructions on how to do it your self. The only other thing is to take it to a transmission shop and have them scan it and repaire it.
Just be careful that they try not to sell you the whole transmission and not just the sensor if that's what it is.
Good luck and hope this help. Be careful that you do not burn out the transmission as it will not shift, You may have to change the transmission fluid and filter if there already burn. The speed sensor is on the out side of the transmission on the driver's side. Check the wire harness and clips too.

2002 Dodge caravan, down shifting hard.

The PO562 is merely a low voltage code. Tranny codes are 700's. It is possible your brakes are dragging and that's forcing a downshift early; hoist it up and check for freewheeling, but I would take it to a reputable tranny shop. Believe it or not, you can ask your Mopar dealer for a recomendation; most dealers do sublet some of their tranny jobs out to independents, esp their used cars. Keep the faith.

Transmission down shifts hard

Check the trans fluid for quantity and color. If it is not a good red color, try having it changed and get the filter cleaned. If that looks okay, you may have a bad shift solenoid. Look for leaks around the trans case. Leaks on top around the solenoid are a sign that it is going bad.
