Try to push it gently down. You should here the click. There is locking mechanusm on a frame and lutch on a hood. Lutch should
go in locking mechanism. When it will go comletely you should hear the click. If lutch still not go in the mechanism might get stuck (rusted or frozen). In this case you might need to spary the locking mechanism with libricant.
Please kindly let me know if the information I provide you was usefull or you need more info.

Safety catch on hood wont release and hood wont re latch!

I would check to see if the hood release moves when the inside lever is pulled then pushed, if not the cable and latch mechanism may need lubrication or be broken.

You can adjust release on front brace by loosening bolts and setting it. I grease all my latches with moly grease. And lube cable under dash shield.

Is the hood bent just enough where it wont latch? Try to put a 2x4 near the back part where the hinge or shock go and close hood gently andpush gently until hood bends back to shape and will close

Can not completely close the hood

Make sure there are no obstuctions under the hood.
Check your release cable, make sure it's working
properly to the latch. Check to make sure the latch is
open. Push the release all the way in.
Hope this helps.
Good luck

I have a broken hood latch and the hood is down

I think your cable came loose from the latch. try to see it through the grill, maybe you can get to it with a long flat tip screwdriver

Hood latch cable is not working--hood is closed

Hi there,

Yes, there is a way. I've had to do it three times. Once I got it the first time, 2 and 3 were easy. You're going to need a flashlight and a long screwdriver or needlenose pliers.

Get to the grill and look through with the flashlight. You're looking for the hood release cable. Follow it as far as you can to just beneath the hood latch.

Now look for the clamp on the outer part of the cable. To the left of that you should see the inner cable (the part that moves and pulls the latch). Try to either grab it with the pliers or get the screwdriver above it and pull down. You'll here it click open when you get it.

If the cable is broken or off, you're still in the right area. Look for the latch assembly, there are two or three small arms beneath. Try to move each one to the right. Be patient, you'll get it open.

Comment me back to let me know how it goes.

Good Luck
