Ok firing order is 15426378 counter clockwise. No 1 on the cap is usually( facing the distributor from the front of the car )is around the 1 o'clock postion(usually 1 is marked on the cap). the cylinders are right bank(passenger side and left side(drivers side)

2009 Saturn Aura cranks over wont start

All engines that are gas powered need 3 basic things .
AIR comeing in to the engine GAS comeing into the engine and something to ignite the fuel air mixture inside the cylinders.
First check the air take the filter and the duck work off the top of throttle body.Look into the the T body make sure the plate moves freely and there is nothing in side it like a dead mouse or something like that.
Next check the electrical most vehicles disturbtor cap that the coil wire and all of the spark plug wires plug into. You don't say what engine you have some vehicles have what are called coil packs witch is basicly indiuvidual coils for one or more spark plugs .In eighter case you can pull off the coil wire have someone else crank the vehicle hold the connecter an inch or so away from ware you unpluged from you should see a spark.If you can't figure out ware the coil is take out a spark plug .Plug the wire back on it and touch it to the engine block while someone cranks the engine you should see a spark that means its working you might want to ware rubber gloves .
Next is the fuel witch is the most likely cause cloged fuel filter bad fuel relay bad fuel pump or problems with fuel injection or even bad gas water in it.
If the spark works at this point take an ounce of good gas and poor it into the throttle body if it starts then you know its a fuel not getting to engine issue and you need to check all fuel related systems .
I know this may sound complex but if you have to take it to someone to repair it at least you will have a good idea of what you need to fix and won't get taken to the cleaners witch happens alot

Have 1990 mitsubishi starwagon have power to coil and power to dizzy but no spark to spark plug have replaced dizzy and ECU and still no spark but there is no plug on dizzy just the four wires but dont...

Once u remove the dizzy cap, check inside it...u shud see a little carbon brush/ rod,,sometimes it falls off/ or it wears out the cap,, definitely won't start without it

I need to locate the distributor cap on my 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis. Any one know where it would be?

It would be on the top of the engine whether front or rear im not sure. It will have either 5,7 or 9 wires plugged into it. The difference in wire numbers is if you have 4, 6 or 8 cylinders The cap will usually be black and be about 4 to 5 inches in diameter. One wire will be in the middle with the other wires others spaced equally around it. The middle wire goes to your coil while the rest go to the spark plugs. If you cant find the cap, then locate any spark plug wire and follow it back..

The battery cables have six wires and I don't no how to install battery. I don't know what wire goes where

first of all there should only be two wires for battery(+) & (-) the six wires if it's a six cyclinder engine, then it sounds like your holding the spark plug wires, which run from your spark plugs to the distributor cap and I have no idea the make or model/year etc so I can't tell you the proper order, if your lucky they'll be numbers on the cap and that will tell you what wire plugs into where there but to which spark plug I'm not sure.

Number 2 spark plug

Are you sure it's the spark plug that's faulty or the ignition wire?? How old are plugs and wires?
If you don't know if it's your spark plug not firing or your ignition wire you could move spark plug to number 1 then check your code reader.
Or you could do an ohms continuity test on your number 2 ignition wire to verify that there is no break in the wire. Common problem to check for. If wires and plugs are old and high mileage maybe should change all including cap and rotor on distributor. Fresh wires plugs cap and rotor always improve mileage and performance.

Changing spark plugs

look under will see wires coming from distributor cap on top into your motor..if its an 8 cylinder there will be 4 in the back and 4 in the front.6 cylinder-3 in front 3 in back.get a 5/16 spark plug wrench and will need extension to reach back ones.if you bought new wires from parts store it will be even easier to find where plugs are located because you can compare the ones you bought and easier find the wires under the hood.the wire gets fatter as it goes into the motor.grab the fat part firmly and pull it off.boom theres your spark plugs.use your spark plug socket(5/16) with extension/ratchet and turn the plug until it comes not break the plug or it will not come out.when you put a new one in screw it hand tight then 1 crank tight with the ratchet.when you change your wires do them one at a time as to avoid switching the wires up.on top of the distributor cap(where the wires lead to) there will be numbers as to what wire is for what cylinder...change plugs/wires 1 at a time dont take off more than 1 wire at a time!hope this helped!

Hi, I was wandering if someone could tell me, what i need to do to fix my piaggio liberty 125, it has no spark. I have installed a new spark plug and still no spark.

Try removing the distributor cap and ceck to see if the rotor was broken. Please bear in mind this might not be the problem, but it's a start.

1987 GMC Jimmy Distributor cap and Rotor replacement

A diagram may not be needed as its a reasonably easy fix to do on your own.the distributor ca p will only fit on properly one way because at the base of the cap locaters can only fit the distributor if they line up.When doing the spark plug leads do them one at a time and if nessecary write or mark leads as 1,2 etc .The rotor can only fit on one way but put a mark on the distributor to show where the rotor was pointing when you took it off and if it still points there when the new one is fitted.When changing distributor cap and leads they have to go to the correct place.Pays to mark the outside of distributor cap where the locating bits are On the new and old one.Fit the new cap and rotor then take a spark plug lead and fit to new cap 1 at a time.You can tell by lining up the marks on the outside of the distributor cap when you hold them one on top of the other.Good luck

Replacing spark plug wires

It's gotta be 5.7 V-8 . As u stand in front of the suburban facing the front bumper, there are 4 spark plugs on each side of the engine. The front (of the engine) plug on the drivers side, is plug #1, the front plug on the pass. side is #2, then back to driver side, next plug back is #3, back to Pass side, next plug is #4 etc. to #8. The distributor cap (spark plug wires go from dist. cap (9 wires on top) to each spark plug, Extra wire goes to coil, which sends spark to all wires). The wires fire in the following order: 1, 8, 4, 3, 6, 5. 7, 2. You will have to find where the #1 spark plug goes in the distributor cap, some (hopefully yours ) have a #1 on the top next too where the wire plugs in to the cap. If u find this u r good to go! Put #1 wire in, using a pushing/twisting motion, the wires go in in a clockwise order from #1 as u look down on the distributor. Wires to spark plugs go on w/ same push/twist. You should hear/feel a slight click or snap (not always though!) if inserted all the way. Let me know if this is enough info, if not I'll try to give u more. If u can't find where #1 goes on the dist. cap, stand on the driver side of engine, I believe #1 is at approx. 8 oclock position on the dist cap. Good luck!
