The auto shut down relay is not like a fuse that can shut the engine off the name it has actually has not much to do with its function.. the relay is controlled by the computer .. its main function is to stop run-on and turns off o2 heaters power to coil and injectors if you had the key in the run position and engine not running your battery would dies faster than a drive in movie.. but anyway if your stalling and think its the relay failing just swap it with another one that looks the same from the PDC.. what you may have is a bad fuel pump or even a crank sensor have you had it scanned for codes? sometimes but not always you may have a code for lean upstream o2 if the pump is failing but not always.. and for the crank sensor you may have a crank shaft position sensor performance or cam/crank sensor code ..

Y is my auto shutdown relay clicking and van wont start

The last time I saw this, it turned out to be a bad ECM due to shock. This was a Grand Caravan which didn't have any major damage as a result of the colision.

Wont start for 10 min

Have your charging system tested and include the Battery. Go to Autozone.com ,register your vehicle for free, get free wiring diagrams and Fusebox layouts. Have a starter draw test done.

Check the relays for the fuelpump, ignition, and PCM. Sometimes the horn relay can be the same part number and be interchanged.

What you are describing can be many things. You have more compression in a hot engine, you have different timing in a hot engine because vehicles run so lean today. The O2 sensors may be keeping the engine too lean to restart after a warmup. Relays can overload when hot and kick out the connections. Your fuelpump can be failing.

You did not indicate how far you drive when this happens. If you are driving 10 miles a weak battery will not recharge, but a 100 mile trip gives it more opportunity. The starter draw test will tell if the starter is bad. The starter may cool down overnight, but frequent restarts may heat the starter with it failing.

My 91 jeep wrangler 4.0 will shut down all power at all speeds from idle to driving on the interstate. I jumped out the auto shutdown relay and it works fine but i cannot find the auto shutdown switch to...

There is no switch. The relay gets a signal from the computer. If there is no signal from the crank position sensor the computer will not close the relay. If it runs with the relay bypassed, chances are good that the relay itself is bad.

My car still stop all of a sudden without any warning and then it will have a little bit of a hard time starting.

If it starts fine when cold or will restart after it cools down and run until the engine warms up, have your TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) replaced. I have seen quite a few lately that will "warm" up and cause the car/truck to gradually run rougher as the engine compartment heats up and once it sits and cools off will restart and run again. You can go to auto zone, advance auto, etc and have them run a free diagnostic test on your car and tell you for sure if any TPS trouble codes are stored

Won't re-start after stopping for gas/rest during road trip.

This problem sounds like you have a fuel pump over heating and shuts of the relay. When it cools off the relay kicks in and you can restart your vehicle. Replace your fuel pump and the problem will go away.

2001 buick lesabre. my heater and a/c blower is not working

I believed the a/c blower is a relay activated. So no fuse getting blown to make it to go bad. Try to locate such relay (the ID label is found inside the relay cover assembly). Swap it with an identical one before making a trip to auto part store.
