Right turn signal flashing fast

Just replaced turn signals in my 98 Jetta and the right turn signal still flashes like the bulb is blown.

Is there a flasher module on your 1998 Jetta? Not too familiar with newer cars, but I had a similar problem with an '85 Mazda pickup. A flasher module would be located (typically) in, or near the main fuse box or under one of the kick panels in the cab. Hope this helps.

Thanks for help. I found that wires were loose going into the piece that the bulb is placed into.

That is a sign of a bad bulb, flashing fast. Check that rear bulb.

Fast flashing turn signals

I would change out the turn signal bulb on the right front. A blown bulb can cause the fast flash issue. The signals staying on is not related to the bulb being blown. That is most likely a problem with the multifunction switch, the knob you use to signal.

Check the front turn signal bulbs. This will affect the resistance in the circuit and cause the working light to flash at a much faster rate.

Sounds like your front turn bulb burnt out. When the turn signal operates fewer bulbs it works faster. You need to change the right front bulb.

Pull that bulb out and look closely at it, it'll probably have one of the filaments(Tungsten wires) broken and crossed over to the other one causing a short to power and/or the bottom of the bulb has had the 2 lead contacts melt together. In either case the bulb will need to be replaced. If this doesn't fix the problem please let me know so I can look into it further.

Does the light flash fast or is the light off? If flashes fast replace the flasher. If the light does not. Replace the bulb socket. Let me guess it's the rear socket bulb.
