F250 Ford Diesel truck won't start

The truck hasn't been started since Christmas and now when trying to start, nothing is happening. I forgot to plug it in at night and have been for the past week, but it still isn't happening. I'm not sure if the battery is dead or if there is something else I should check. The check engine light is now coming on. Any advice would be appreciated.

No, the key does not crank. I just get a clicking noise. Average temperature has been way below freezing, sometimes down to zero. And yes, it still has summer fuel in it. Friends feel the battery might be dead, so we are bringing in the house to warm up before trying to jump it. If the fuel is gelled in the tank and fuel lines, what can I do to correct this? Thanks.

It turned out both batteries in the truck were dead. Replaced with brand new ones and I'm good to go. Thanks so much!

troubleshoot: when you turn the key, does it crank? when it cranks, does it crank fast or slow? Whats the average temperature lately? Is it possible there is still summer fuel in it? if its really cold, diesel can gel in the tank and the fuel lines, plugging in won't fix this. Also a marginal battery can freeze in deep cold, rendering it nfg. However if it cranks fast, its not the problem.

Does it crank over? Can you hear fuel pump running with key turned to run position?

After you cure the battery issue and cranks over well but still no start, get vehical into a warm garage if at all possable, change fuel filter(s) and if there is any sign of gell up, as jeremythious said, get some good diesel fuel treatment, add recomended amount to tanks and if possable, fill filters/ filter housings with 1/2 treatment & 1/2 diesel and try to start.Have had some success with propane torch heating (carefully!) the lines and/or filter housings. Be sure glow plug/intake manifold heaters are working good ( not sure which engine is in it ?).Hope this helps. Please rate me.

Summer fuel should bo good to about 10 below, so thats probably not an issue, if it is there are additives available at your corner parts store, just follow the directions on the lable. But i'm confident that a new or fully charged battery will get you going. Remember that if your battery froze, it's probably no good.

Need image of a 2001 f250 fuse box diagram

Which fuse box? there are three: The Battery Junction Block (BJB), the Central Junction Block (CJB) and the Bi-Fuel Relay Module.

Please review this article: Where's The Fuse?

Also, the information that you are probably trying to find is covered in the Owner's Manual for your vehicle. (Look under the heading of "Roadside Emergencies")
If you don't have an owner"s manual, you can download a FREE .pdf version at the Ford web site. I have provided a direct link below. You can save this file to your computer for future reference.

93 ford f250 7.3 ltr diesal hard to start in cool or cold weather often run battery down have to recharge battery to start. new glow plugs installed 3 years ago. once started good for the day. warm weather...

This engine 'loves' glow plugs! One goes and the others try to handle the amps. Change them and you will have no probs! Other than that, I feel this is about the best diesel truck made!

Ford 2002 f250 7.3 diesel won't start on cold mornings just replaced the cold start relay and still won't start...what else could it be?

It probably is your glow plugs which are controlled by the cold start relay. They burn out over time. This is normal. Haynes Diesel Engine Repair Manual, part 10330, will walk you through the diagnosis and replacement easily. It's about $20. Hope this helps.
