You'll probably have to change the clutch plate on the flywheel. You'll have to get a floor jack, but a transmission jack is easier to remove the transmission. To remove the transmission you'll have to remove the tortion bars on both front wheels. Also, you'll have to remove the crossmember aft of the transfer case. You'll also have to remove the front and rear drive shafts. The manual says you should keep the transfer case from leaking oil out the back. but, you can just top it off after you're done. Be careful not to damage the seal seal for the rear drive shaft. Anyway, once you get the transmission and transfer case out (you'll have to remove the shift and transfer case levers), you should have enough space to remove the clutch plate from the flywheel on the engine. You should have an alignment tool to make sure the clutch plate is aligned with the crankshaft so you can put the transmission back on.

Have the computer scanned for trouble codes before doing any other work on it. MAF or throttle position sensor or ground leads from engine and trans to body, stuck accelerator cable, broken engine mounts....the causes could be many.......

Why wont my 1995 nissan pathfinder go into reverse? The transmission does not slip when in drive.

It will soon. The loss os reverse is the first sign that something internal is wrong and other failures will soon follow. It needs to be taken to a local, trusted transmission shop or get one from a local salvage yard with a warranty. If you wish to do this yourself and need instructions, let me know.

I have a 1995 nissan pathfinder that was not in use for the past two years. it has been fixed and now it is running very rough. The acceleration is very slow and the engine hesitates quite a bit and have...

It sounds more like a transmission problem than anything. But if you can get it to a parts store and get the odb2 on it to scan the computer, it might tell you what it is. It could be anything. The tranny is set up for safe mode in the case something goes wrong it will slowly get you off the road or home, but not let the engine rev to hurt the tranny more. Is there any warning lights on the dash? Check it out, hope this helps.

Daughter says that car is not accelerating right in 5th. When she pushes down on gas petal, the RPMs rev and it doesn't accelerate. But if she eases down on gas, it will accelerate. Car has a manual...

The clutch is slipping, eventually it will fail completely. The reason she notices it in 5th gear is because 5th or overdrive uses the transmission the most IE low rpms high speeds. Soon it will affect all gears. Sorry the only way to fix it ts to replace it.
I think they make a clutch kit for this model
Good luck
Hope this helps
