Question about 1998 Saturn SL

Tried to change radio, now factory doesn't work.

Everything is hooked up the way it was taken out, nothing altered. Before removal the light on radio wouldn't turn on, but the radio would work, now the light is on and the radio won't work. How do I fix this?

I tried looking up a code, but the radio wouldn't take it. Now, the rear defrost and the clock work sporatically, and the clock resets every time the door closes. (It's always 1) The radio still doesn't work, when I turn it on it flashes a radio station for a second then shuts down completely. I checked all the fuses and they're all fine...I don't know where to go from here....

Since the defrost works sporadically, I would think this might be a wiring problem... something may have pulled loose when you reinstalled the radio. I'd pull it again and check that all the connections, including for the defrost are all seated properly, and make sure all the grounds are connected too....

If that was me you were asking, pull the radio back out, and gently wiggle any wires that were behind it and to it.... if the defrost shuts off, or the clock shuts off when you wiggle something, you know there's something wrong....

Possibly it needs a code keyed into the old radio, just for security if it happened to be stolen...and the light is just burned out. Saturn dealers would help with the code number.

2001 Civic dimmer not working

It's not high and low beam, it's the dash lights that are dim. I've hooked up many aftermarket radios but never knew it was a no no to hook up the dimmer/illumination orange wires in a '01 civic. I googled it and seen many others with similar issues like mine but nothing exactly like the issue I have.

All the dash lights work, they are dim though. The radio lights work but they are even more dim than the rest of the dash lights. I have check every single fuse under the dash and in the engine bay. The dim controller does not work at all now. I'm guessing that's the issue and from what I read, the dimmers circuit board is in the instrument cluster. Some can fix it, others can't.

I will probably end up buying a used instrument cluster off of ebay, they are not expensive. Hopefully that fixes it since everything else works.

Oh, yes, the brake lights work.

Ted, I think you answered the wrong question...I mentioned nothing about the battery or the low/hi beams

2001 aurora won't start at all. Hook batery up horn horn sounds and doesn't stop head lights stay on but nothing happens when the key is inthe ingition. No clicking or anything at all. alarm on...

The security system does not disable the starter, it only disables fuel to the engine. In the fuse block under the hood, locate the STARTER relay. Place your hand on this relay and see if it clicks while someone else turns the key to start...if the relay is ok then the starter itself is faulty. Good luck, i hope this helps.

I researched and found I needed to reseat or replace the IOD fuse. In my Dakota this is labled "Interior Lights". By pulling this fuse it allowed the radio to reset and everything came back. Hope it works !
