Re: When I turn off my 1988 Buick Lasabre the heater fan...
Check where the wiring goes into the fan motor itself. The power probably goes there first into a blower motor resister. If the resister is shot many times its the same symptoms your describing. If you dont know what it looks like you could stop at a auto parts store to see.

do you not have a switch on dash for them? try turning the switch counterclockwise to turn them off. or you may have a bad switch on the door jam,,look for a plunger swictch on the door jam itself push the plunger in on the doorjam,,if the lights go off, then you'll know the problem! hope this helps!1
I would start with the MAP sensor. You can also pull codes out of it. there should be a 10 or 12 pin plug under your dash in the canter of the car. here is a link that may help. - North Central Regional Library Good luck
Next time this happens leave the key in the on position, open the hood and lift the fuel solenoid link (between the fuel solenoid and the injection pump) up. If it stays up the truck will start and run. The solenoid is shot but that might be a symptom of set of bad starter contacts.
I have the same problem on a 1988 lesaber Climate control and was told to change the climate control as the was the problem. A have the climate control but have a problem to take of the cover that covers the control and the radio. If any one can tell me how to remove it I will put in the new control and see if that will stope the fann. Thanks
