Question about 1996 Toyota Corolla

1 Answer

1996 toyota corolla won't start

I took out the battery from my corolla to use temporarily on my van. I replaced it within a week. From then on, I could not get my corolla to start. It does not even turn. No response from turning the key at all. Also I noticed that my radio does not come on anymore. The "open door" alarm goes on, the headlights turn on and the horn is on.

Try your fuse panel. You must have blown the ignition fuse when replacing the starter.

Looking for fuse to disable toyota corolla alarm, please help!!

Remove fuse labelled "dome" on engine compartment fuse box. unfortunately this also isolates the radio. I have found when re connecting battery alarm goes off. remove "dome" fuse and then replace it. all ok then.

I have a 1996 Toyota Corolla that won't start

Radio and lights can work with weak battery, too weak to turn starter.

Noise when shutting off maybe dieseling due to fuel mixture too rich or timing off.

When you say car won't start do you mean starter turns but engine does not start, or do you mean starter does not turn.

Remove the starter & inspect the contacts inside the starter solenoid housing. If they are burnt and/or worn, you will get this condition. Replace the contacts and the plunger, or replace the starter. I change contacts in my shop 3-4 times a week. Quite a common failure. The clicking noise is the plunger hitting one contact, but not the other, due to wear.
