Question about 1997 Buick LeSabre

1 Answer

N423y@att.net I have a 1997 buick lesabre which has climate control where the passenger can separately adjust the air conditioning on the right side. Recently, the air coming out of the driver side vents is not cold enough, even with the temperature control set at 65 degrees. I don't think the problem is with the compressor or evaporator because the air coming from the passenger side vents is ice cold on demand. Is there a mechanism or computer that controls this? Or is it possible one of the vent doors that controls the mix of cold and warm air is malfunctioning. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes it is called the blend door, you either have a sticking blend door or the actuator motor for the door is defective and does not completely shut off the heater core. The pass side has it's own blend door.

THE BLEND DOOR IS LOCATED INSIDE THE AIR DUCTING OF THE HVAC SYSTEM, THE ENTIRE DASH MUST BE REMOVED TO ACCRESS IT FOR REPAIR, IT IS A HUGE AND VERY INVOLVED JOB.

Why does my 2001 buick lesabre blow cold air on passenger side and hot air on drivers side

There should be ( 2 ) slide switches or buttons that control passenger/driver side climate control, one of the switches is not operating correctly and probably be faulty. I have a 1991 Buick Regal with the same problem, sometimes i can slide the faulty one real fast to the right and back to the left and it will work fine.

You have a vacuum leak. The climate control is hooked to the vacuum ports on the upper intake plenum. Check for leaks there.

1995 Lesabre blows hot on drivers side, cold on passenger side

THIS IS A GUESS. Both sides probabley have "mix" dampers that regulate temp by mixing hot and cold air to make you comfortable. Passenger side must not work properly, stepper motor? Dirty actuator? Temp sensor on passenger not working? Don't honestly know but I'm not sure a do it yourselfer could figure it out. Sounds complicated.
