Question about 1995 Ford Mustang

1 Answer

Dims don't work but brights do.

I have a 97 ford explorer xlt, I'm having a problem with my headlights not working and only my brights working, I have to turn the dims on for my tail lights to come on but for headlights I have to hold my turn signal/windshield lever arm located on the left side of the steering collumn to have brights. normally you would have to just push that arm forward to keep them on, but in my case you have to hold in in towards you while driving. also I only have one speed on the windshield wipers and it's all of the way up.

I believe that all of the Functions Listed above are on the Same Handle. There is a Half Moon Circuit and Switch that Goes around the Steering Shaft inside the Steering Column for this Handle. This is Malfunctioning and will need to be Replaced. Not an Easy Job. You will need to Pull the Sterring Wheel and go from their. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!

SOURCE: 98 Explorer's Headlights won't work...have to hold highbeam on

Sounds like your switch is bad (i.e. turn signal / healight dimmer / winshield lever switch) inside the steering column. Replace as necessary.

Headlights wont work on dim, only bright

Check your head light bulbs, your truck has the dual filiment headlight bulbs one per side which does both high beam and low beam, 9007 bulbs.
If the low beam filiments are burned out only the high beam will work.
Also look into finding out if the headlight switch is gone bad.
The headlight module and or drl module maybe defective.

Alternator failed and blew the headlights 2 qty. dim, 1 qty. bright. Replaced the alternator and the headlights, but the dims don't stay on when the brights are engaged.

Hi:
Normal operation of the headlight circuit is to just have one set of headlights on a time, bright or dim, but not both.

Will a 98 transmission from a Ford Explorer XLT fit in a 97 Ford Explorer XLT?

No, which kind of surprised me!! Depending on the engine and drivetrain, some 1996 transmissions will work.

Try Autozone or similar and ask if they show a fusible link for the lights. Not sure if there are separate for low and high beam. Sometimes fusible links are under battery case and get crushed.
