Question about 1990 Acura Integra Hatchback

1 Answer

Sunroof replacement I need to replace the the sunroof of my 1990 Acura Integra Hatchback because the frame of the glass is very rusty. I already got a used one to replace it with, just don't know where to start in removing the paneling. How do I go about this?

It is electric and it does have tracks. When it opens, the glass goes inside in between the ceiling paneling and the roof. Also as you open it, the glass lowers down a bit to get in between the space where it retracks (roof and panelling). Also that means when you close it, the glass lifts up at the end so it's level to the roof.

The concept is simple, the glass and the frame that holds it just need to be replace with an identical one that I already have. I know I can do it, but like you said I need the instructions. I just don't want to start prying panels and end up bending them to a point that they no go back to it's normal shape. Do you know of a site or a manual that I can get a hold of that will show me how the panels are removed? Just need to know where the clips and what kind they are so I can use the right tools. I hate to break them considering that the car is 19 years old (but in great shape). They're probably delicate to work with by now.

You need to be in the medium or higher range of skill to do this. I am recamending you get a set of directions and go over it very carefully. Retracking a window can be painfull for some one who has done it before. If you don't have or cant get a set of directions then you really need to think about having it done. I would recamend having one with no motor put in.. Nothing to break on it. The tracks and clips are really tough.

they are very delicate, and made of plastic, the ones on my car cost $300 each. Its cheaper to buy a new window and have it installed than it is to purchase the clips. Thats why I said you may want to put in a manual one instead of the electric. Also remember some of the gears are plastic also. so be carefull. I have not found any site that just gives the info out for free, but if your willing to pay just do a google search, and you can find plenty of them.

When i push down on the front right side of my 1990 integra i hear what sounds like a moaning noise, almost like a rusty swing. What could it be?

Maybe a rubber bushing, like a control arm bushing. Car is 22 years old now, so you could expect some worn suspension parts. Are your struts and coils in good shape? You might want to get under car or close to the noise while the wife sits on it and try to pinpoint the noise-front of wheel, back of wheel, behind...Good luck.

Easiest way to do this is go to a junkyard and take one off another car. shouldn't cost more than a couple dollars. You won't even need tools it's a plastic hand screw.

Replace sunroof glass instructions for 1994 Acura Integra

no you should not have to take the head liner out.. when the sunroof is open you should see 3 or 4 screws one both sides.. all you have to do is remove the screws but its better to have a second person so they can hold the glass while your removing the screws so you don't drop the glass..then just put on some cloth gloves(prefered) to hold up and install the new glass. do removal in reverse to install.

Special bolt on the crankshaft pully on 1990 acura integra

It should be a hex bead bolt. Nothing really special about the. If its a bolt that is torqued then tightened to a specific angle then you need to replace it when doing the work.

Belt replacement 1990 acura integra

Ok, you will need a 10 mm socket and extension and a 14 and 15 mm wrench. One of the "idler" pullies is actualy an adjustable tension pully. loosen the center nut on the pully, and then begin loosening the 10 mm bolt from above. as you loosen it, the pully will drop, and soon enough you can slip the belt off.
good luck
