P1151 is a lack of O2 sensor switching bank 2, drivers side front.
This code sets when the HO2S monitor or program runs and the sensor indicates a lean condition at the end of the test.
Now there are several possiblities that may cause this like an air leak behind the MAF sensor where air that is not being measured by the MAF is getting into the engine or maybe a vacuum leak,or it could be a restriction in fuel(engine not getting enough fuel).
However if this is the only code you are getting I would strongly suspect it is just a bad or lazy O2 sensor itself. Usually if one of the mentioned air or fuel problems you usually get a code for the other bank as well.
If your vehicle has alot of miles on it I would suggest going ahead and replace both front O2 sensors. This will probably help the performance and fuel economy.

Here is what the code is :

Causes A code P1151 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
Electrical:

  • Short to VPWR in the harness or Heated O2 Sensors (HO2S)
  • Water in the harness connector
  • Open/shorted HO2S circuit
  • Corrosion or poor mating terminals and wiring
  • Damaged HO2S
  • Damaged PCM
Fuel System:
  • Excessive fuel pressure
    Leaking/contaminated fuel injectors
    Leaking fuel pressure regulator
Low fuel pressure or running out of fuel
    Vapor recovery system
Induction System: PCV system:
  • Improperly seated engine oil dipstick
EGR System:
  • Leaking gasket
  • Stuck EGR valve
  • Leaking diaphragm or EVR
Base Engine:
  • Oil overfill
  • Cam Timing
  • Cylinder compression
  • Exhaust leaks before or near the HO2S(s)
I would start with the basic stuff and go from there. Hopefully this will give you some direction. Thanks for using Fixya!

Does Changing a P1151 and P0175 on a ford Wind star solve the problems associated with it?

P1151 is indicating an problem with the upstream O2 Sensor on Bank 2. Bank 2 is the even cylinders side O2 sensor. The P0175 code indicates a rich condition in Bank 2 exhaust. This indication, if by itself, would indicate a faulty MAF Sensor or a vacuum leak, but since you already have the P1151, change the Bank 2 O2 sensor first and most likely both codes will clear.

Check engine lite, codes P0151, P0153, P1151, mechanic says incorrect voltage from PCM, replace PCM

CODE PO151 - HO2S - 21 BANK 2 SENSOR 1 CIRCUIT LOW INPUT. CODE PO153- HO2S BANK 2 SENSOR 1 CIRCUIT SLOW RESPONSE. CODE P1151 - LACK OF HO2S - 21 SWITCHING HO2S SIGNAL LOW INPUT. POSSIBLE CAUSES TO YOUR PROBLEM AIR INTAKE SYSTEM LEAKING VACUUM HOSES LEAKING OR DAMAGED.AIR LEAKS LOCATED AFTER THE MAF SENSOR MOUNTING LOCATION OR IN THE PCV SYSTEM. YOU COULD HAVE BASE MECHANICAL FAULT LIKE LOW CYLINDER COMPRESSION , VALVE TIMING OFF.HO2S CIRCUITS WET OR OILY CORRODED OR POOR TERMINAL CONTACT. HO2S SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN SHORTED TO GROUND SHORTED TO POWER OR THE SENSOR HAS FAILED. LOW FUEL PRESSURE OR VECHICLE DRIVEN UNTIL IT WAS OUT OF FUEL. BEFORE REPLACING PCM CHECK ALL VACUUM HOSES ON INTAKE MANIFOLD. REPLACE FUEL FILTER. CHECK YOUR SPARK PLUGS. IF SPARK PLUGS OIL COATED PROBLEM IN THE ENGINE ITSELF. YOU HAVE WORN PISTON RINGS, WORN VALVE GUIDES AND WORN VALVE SEALS. IF PCM WAS BAD YOU WOULD HAVE FLASHING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAR WOULD RUN POORLY.YOU WILL HAVE FAULT PCM CODE IF PCM FAILED. YOUR PROBLEM IN HO2S SENSORS AND THE ENGINE AIR FUEL MIXTURE.

What is the p1131 and the p1151 codes mean?

P1131 and P1151 are for the oxygen sensors. one in the exhaust at the firewall and one at the radiator off the manifold. When both go off though at the same time I would suspect a vacuum leak after the MAF sensor(mass air flow), if only one code then suspect that O2 oxygen sensor

How do i fix emission codes p1131 p1151 p0171

ISSUE:
Some 2001-2003 F-150, 2004 F-150 Heritage and 2001-2003 E-150/250 vehicles equipped with a 4.2L engine may exhibit the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) on with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P1131 and/or P1151 (system too lean bank 1 or 2). This condition may be due to leaking isolator bolts/port gaskets in the upper-to-lower intake manifold mounting area. This condition is sometimes intermittent and may not be apparent on a warmed-up engine.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Perform a self test. If DTC P1131 and/or P1151 are the only codes stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) proceed to Step 2. If any additional DTCs are present, follow normal diagnostic procedures found in the PC/ED Manual.

Remove the upper intake and replace only the port gaskets (9H486) and isolator bolt assemblies (9S479). The new isolator bolt assemblies use a rubber material that is green in color, do not install the old isolator bolt assemblies with the black rubber material. Do not replace any other intake parts or gaskets.
While the upper intake manifold is removed, check the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) orifices that are pressed into each primary port of the lower intake manifold. If any of the orifices are plugged with soot, clean and unplug them with a pick and solvent.

Have engine trouble codes P1151 and P1131

If both, P1131 and P1151 trouble codes are set at the same time, the problem will most likely be attributed to a vacuum leak past the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor or something else that would likely affect BOTH banks. If the problem is only causing one code or the other, but NOT both, the problem will most likely be something that would affect one bank, like a bad O-2 sensor or a fuel injector; the most common cause of a single code either the P1131 or P1151 in my experience has been a bad Oxygen sensor.
