Burning odor then whirring sound all within one weeks time
A week ago a burning odor came from through the vents from the engine. I thought maybe some ice or washer fluid spilled onto the hot engine. I drove it today and got a loud whirring sound and steering felt very slightly strange. Belts?

Are you loosing radiator fluid. sometimes the heater core will rupture and you will smell burn odor. also check for strange rubbing sounds or screeching coming from the blower fan motor. or engine exhaust manifolds are hot when car is on, make sure nothing is leaning on them which will cause a burn odor. Any odor coming from outside will find it's way inside through the fresh air vents.
Have you checked the oil, checked to see if dipstick and fuel cap are tight.Do you have oil spots on driveway? Those are the first things I would check,if oil is on driveway is it coming from the oil pan.It 'seems" it May be tied in with the oil change from 2 weeks ago
If your heater is spraying a light mist through your vents it could be your heater coil. Mine did the same thing, smell rubber burning, then started a light mist through the vents. If you don't get that checked out, it could mess up your water pump and possibly your engine
I dont think there is a connection between an oil change and the gallons per mile.
With that age car, I suggest a Terra engine clean. It will blow away nine years of gunk from the spark plugs, fuel injectors, cylinders and exhaust. Should give you more power, more miles..
Did u notice the smell right after oil change ?I so they might have spilled some on the exhaust manifold or on the motor itself ... If this is a strong odor return to where the oil was changed and ask them to double check everything they didif it wasnt them maybe they can find out what is indeed making the smell.. good luck hope this helps
could be anything from engine oil on the engine block burning as your driving and coming inside through the air flow from the outside vents, you can always click over the button and recirculate the interior air which will close the vents from pulling air from the motor. Might want to take it in and inspect it, if its not burning oil off the engine somewhere the only rubber would be your tires rubbing somewhere on the wheelwell or the frame and possible melting in that manor.
ur burning oil smoke from tailpipe --white /burning coolant possible blown head gasket---black /build up of carbon need tune up andadjustments---blue /engine problems-bad rings /piston-valves adjustment ,burnt, bent, buildup etc pull ur plugs out one at a time look at whick plug is oil soaked this will tell u whick cylinder(s)are bad
