Thank You, I always lube the seal before installing the filter just so it doesn't do that . ( Scunch up ) No, the problem I'm having is that the seal is being blown right out of the groove on the filter, I have not put a pressure guage on the engine yet as I will have to borrow that from one of my friends. If they don't see me copmming first. (just kidding) Thank You again, If I find the solution I will Email back . Cornbread

2000 awd astro 4.3 blowing out oil filter seal. Gage on dash did indicate that the oil pressure was high and varied for 40 - 80 Lbs. and did this at warm up idle. Is it possible that there would be a bypass of some kind that would have failed at the oil pump?

Before you put the filter on pour oil into bottle lid and pour on the rubber seal and use your finger to rub oil on seal. it should work

Start up, blows black smoke. Been sitting for about a year.

Any oil that was in the head will seep into the piston head over time and this will blow black, but should stop after 1 min.
If this happens over and over with starting every day its a bad seal on your piston rings, this has nothing to do with the air filter.
If your car has sat for that long you need to change the oil asap as oil and gas will go bad after only a few months gas 4-5 months oil will go bad after 3 months or if it has gotten very hot.
Change oil and test to see if your still blowing black if so go get a compression test done that will tell you if your rings are gone.
Ring jobs can be very costly, hope this is not the case.

i believe the engine is running too lean as if it was running too rich it would blow black smoke If it was blue smoke it is oil related eg valve stem seals, valve guides and or piston rings all of these things will create blue smoke if one of the above is worn out

try to change the oil temperature sensor and see if that sovles the problem it could be that the sensor is not working and the therefore its not regulating the pressure and blowing off all of the seals.

Ford 3.8 blowing o ring on oil filter, what the heck is going on?

Sometimes when changing oil, the o ring comes off the old filter and stays in the groove. Then when putting new filter on, you end up with a double ring instead of one, this blowing out the seal.

Peugeot 307 2.0 hdi 90bhpand its blowing smoke.

yes, yes, and no.. Idea: Have your oil pressure checked with a reliable gauge. If oil was low and you turned, maybe the oil pickup just couldn't get enough momentarily.
I would think you could do it yourself. Look at how many young kids work on turbos in their dad's garage.
Instructions? I don't know, but here's a possibility: Google Peugeot and find an enthusiasts forum for your car. There must be one or more for every car make by now. The good ones have lots of helpful guys who like to help other diy'ers. Good luck.

2000 jeep cherokee high oil pressure

Does it do this all the time or only when cold? (how cold is it?) If it only does this cold, it's normal as long as pressure does not go above that. If it also persists when at operating temp, change your oil filter and make sure it is the correct one. If due for an oil change, do it and add a good lubricating solvent such as Marvel oil, which will gently clean relief valve in pump and passageways. High oil pressure is actually a good thing but excessive pressure can cause the filter to explode or "blow" its seal. Then, you have more problems than anyone really needs!!!
Good luck!!

I have a 03 chevy truck v-6. this morning when I started it,

make sure the old rubber seal is removed first from the old filter and clean the area with starting fluid or carb cleaner then apply a coat of fresh oil to the new seal and remember hand tight going on also check for defective or improper filter size.

Major oil leak after oil change

Your filter was installed either without the rubber seal, or the seal wasn't lubed before installation and it slipped, causing an improper seal. You will have to drain the oil again, remove the filter, and make sure it is reinstalled with a proper seal.
