Question about 1990 Dodge Caravan
Running great one min. No indication of any issues.... then......turn key just a single click no turnover: Dash comes alive, lights, radio..everything works. Tried to jump, cleaned battery terminals (but not ground), checked fuses, relays. Think it may be starter? How difficult to change?
Thanks for any advise, Mike
Clean both cables including ground. does it dim any of the lights or do they go out when you turn key to start? make sure all connections are clean and tight and that includes hot cable on starter, and the small wire on starter. if your sure everything is clean and tight. You can try this if you know how, you can chk. starter with a screw driver by crossing the big post to small post on starter but you got to be real careful as not to weld the screw driver to the posts as your are by passing the key and comeing strate from battery, if it turns starter there, then most likely not starter, if you got acess to an external starter switch it would be safer. if that all chks. out then most likely its the starter switch under dash on steering colume. starter is not a big thing to chg. just make sure you unhook battery before you take it off.
