Question about 2002 GMC Sierra 2500HD
While driving today (speed 40mph) my truck died, no power to the engine, it shut off. Pulled to the side of the road waited for 5 min. and it started up. This happened two days ago some what the same. Drive for six miles parked and when returning to the truck would not start. Waited 5 to 10 min. after trying to start several times and it started up. There was no engine light on the dash , I checked the engine with a code reader and a stored code came up #P0134 ( 02C CKT NO ACTIVITY DETECTED 1/1) I cleared the code and waiting to see if the code comes back. What do you think? Thanks BDC
Sounds like the cam positioning sensor. I have a 2002 GMC 2500HD 8.1L and this happened to me. Hope this helps.

It is most likely the Crankshaft position sensor. I have an 02 GMC HD w/8.1 and an 01 2500 Suburban with 8.1...have replaced the CPS in both. To get accurate reading, you will need to to hook up code reader and leave until it dies...code resets upon restart...repair should'
cost more than $300...has since been recalled, I think...check with dealer...you may be able to mitigate your repair costs.
